Rogaine and hair loss

Hey Guys can you help me field these questions?

Dear Hairtransplant network,

I know that rogaine mainly grows a very thin layer of

soft downy vellous hair and rarely grows the strong pigmented hairs like

the rest of your original hairs.

I know too that and as the rogaine manual says that

during the first 2-6 weeks of rogaine use you will experience an even more

"increase shredding of hairs(quite a lot of hair loss)" before you

start to see results of hair regrowth. The rogaine manual reassures you

that this increase in hair shredding is normal so don't be alarmed and is

a sign that rogaine is working for you because it is pushing out the

old hairs to allow new hairs to grow.

My worry and question is, is it possible the hairs

shredded by rogaine could be permanently lost or grow back as soft downy

vellous ones leaving me worse off down the years with continual use than

before treatment condition if I had not used rogaine at all?

I want rogaine to improve and better my AGA condition

cosmetically and appearances as well not leaving me worse off after using

it.

I know without treatment of some sort I'll still

continue to lose more hair until completely bald. I'm a 21 years male, about

norwood 2, have a very thin mild diffused overall crown starting from

the vertex with a thin bi-temporal recession of hairline becoming like an

M. My crown may be thin, the hairs there are at least pigmented long

hairs and not vellous ones. That's why I'm scared that rogaine might shed

them and turn them into short light mini vellous hairs making me look

worse off.

In my case as I mentioned, can I expect to benefit from

rogaine and for the better and not worse than before my pre-treatment

condition had I been without rogaine as the years soon come by?
