Hey guys, not sure how many of you remember me. I started posting here about this time last year, like alot of you, I was depressed, freaking out and just hated the thought of losing my hair.

My case wasn't bad however, I had frontal temple recession mainly on the left side. But it was starting to become appearent, this added to the fact I already had a high hairline made matters worse. I was 24 at the time and was finishing up University. I stopped enjoying things, everything that I was passionate about in life just became afterthought, to someone without hairloss this probably seems pretty extreme, however, if you are reading this then you are on this forum for a reason and im sure you can relate. I started Propecia in the summer of 2008 and took it religiously everyday, (still do). I believe it has curved my hairloss and has slowed it down to a snails pace, but my temple seemed like it was too far gone to bring back. I couldn't style my hair the way I wanted to so I made the brave decision to get a Hair Transplant.

I spent hours upon hours on the internet, shutting my social life. I researched every website, every blog and finally came upon this site. I figured my budget was around $8000, and I really wanted the FUE procedure because the lack of a scar in the back. During my research the names of the best surgeons came up, Feller, etc etc., Umar's name came up in a few posts and there were mixed feelings about him, most of the things I could find were about BHT's and cases where ppl had previous procedures that didn't go quite as well, he did a bang up job fixing up people up, but I didn't see many cases on virgin scalps. ABEDOGG had his surgery done with him about 2-3 months prior to mine, and his blog helped ALOT, it seemed like he had a great experience and his results were coming in fast.

I was apprehensive on pulling the trigger, knew that if I didn't get a transplant I was gonna sulk around and feel shitty, I realized the risks of getting the procedure at an early age. Future recession, etc. etc. but I knew that this had to be done.

Anyways, I booked a procedure in mid-april with Dr. Umar, it was to be a 1000 FUE procedure that would take the whole day. I flew down to L.A, scared shitless, it really felt surreal, in my head it was like "am I really getting an hair transplant?!" but it was too late now, the taxi ride to the hotel was the most daunting, I almost felt like telling him to turn around and take me to the airport. But the deposit had already been paid :P so I had to go thru with it...

Umar's office is located in a really ritzy area down in Redondo Beach, the weather was great and my first day there I decided to explore and walked around the beach area, had dinner at a restaurant (alone :-/). I decided to get bed at a decent time because I had to be at Umar's office by 7am.

The big day came and I woke up, grabbed my back pack and it was about a 10 minute walk to the actual office, I stopped by the local starbucks and got some coffee/breakfast. Needless to say I was still freaking out.

Umar's office was small, and the receptionist greeted me and handed me some paperwork I had to fill out, the Man himself had not arrived yet. I filled it out and was taken into the back waiting room, I waited for about what felt like hours! but only 10 mins had passed before Umar arrived. I shook his hand and we discussed what needed to be done, he told me that he would do a 1000FUE procedure using "Mostly" nape and neck hair to make the hairline look natural, he said I had thick hair that would help my cause in getting my hairline how I wanted to be.

The procedure itself was a blur, the only part I remember it the needles to numb me going into the back of my neck and behind my ear area. Not gonna lie, the friggin HURT! the rest of the procedure I was in and out of consciousness, the only time I had to get back up was to have lunch. The first 4 hours was extracting the hair, which was all done by umar, the placement into the forehead was handled by his two assistants but Umar came in and checked up on me every 30 mins.

8 Hours later the task was finished, The front of my head looked like something out of a horror movie but I liked the placement of the grafts and was excited for the outcome. Umar gave me the bag full of goodies and a bandana for the flight home. I went back to the hotel room, exhausted, ordered some italian food and hit the hay.

The next morning I was a bit nervous for my flight back home, I didn't wanna tie the bandana too tightly in fear of knocking some of the grafts out. But it wasn't so bad, no one really paid much attention to me, and the TSA Officers didn't seem to care about it much either. I went thru security just fine and before I knew it, I landed back home. The hardest part was over.

Im going to skip down a few months, the results have been what I expected. I love my new hairline, it filled in nicely and I look like a NW1 again. Umar did one hell of a job, and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a GREAT FUE procedure. He really is very talented, and it shows, the man knows what he is doing. So he definitely gets my endorsement.

That isn't to say there weren;t some negatives, my biggest gripe was AFTER the procedure, I had some questions, and I emailed Umar and his office at least 4-5 times over a 2 week period with no reply, I even called and his staff said that he would get back to me, also to no avail. Its like he dissapeared after the procedure, this at the time, really freaked me out because I thought I got screwed somehow. Im glad to say I was wrong, but I want to keep this post as honest as possible . The only other thing about the results themselves I could say is that I wish he had used a little less of the nape hair and more actual hair from the back of the head to give a weee bit more of the thickness I desired. Somtimes I like to spike my hair up, and theres a small part which seems a bit more see-thru than the rest. However, this is nit picking, but like I said, im being honest.

Final thought: The Transplant was great, my hair looks great. Propecia is working great, and I don't nearly attention to my hair like I used to. Because it looks great. Life is great.

ps- I would love to post pictures, however I started my new career last summer and it forbids me from doing so. I know that pics are what everyone wants to see, and for that I apologize, there are some posted somewhere on here from early on the procedure but I cannot post any new ones on a public forum. Email me and I might be able to work something out if you REALLY want to see them.

Thanks guys. And Thank you Dr. Umar.

I had 2600 frontal FUEs done with Umar 4 months ago and have gotten very nice results already.

Its funny your experiences and opinions are similar to my own. Umar is very kind in person although stoic. He also invests very little in staff or customer service. Of course, the upside of this is he does all the transplants himself. The downside is that he has a new secretary every 4 days icon_smile.gif (Okay, I jest a bit here).

But his staff (of one) almost costs me my transplant because they failed to notify me that somehow my wire didnt come through to their bank and then when I showed up they called off the surgery for non-payment. So, basically I refused to leave, we had a heart to heart, and went forward.

But the results are as good as any strip I've seen on any forum after 4 months.

I'm glad to know you had positive results. Congratulations.
