Switching to topical finasteride, efficacy?

I've been taking oral finasteride 1mg/day for 5 years. I started feeling some testicular pain and due to this side effect and some other longer-term concerns (high-grade prostate cancer, gyno and male breast cancer) I decided to switch to a topical version just to be safe and not think about it too much.

I asked dermatologists and urologists, they are of the opinion that we have clinical trials and studies for 10 years indicating the drug is safe, but beyond 10 years there are no studies regarding safety.

So now I ordered a solution of 0.1% finasteride in Trichosol and my local pharmacy made it for me. Planning on applying it once daily, roughly 1 dropper ~ 1ml

I read that it can be as effective as 1mg but with less serum dht reduction, so better I guess. Would 0.25% be even more effective? Could I just use 0.5mg oral daily and call it a day?

What do you guys think?
