Med
Any opinion on timing of accutane (isotretinoin) relative to a hair transplant? I just started it a month ago to clear my back acne. Conventional wisdom is to wait at least 6 months after finishing accutane before elective surgery. You think that will be OK? Also i am not sure if it is safe to microneedle my scalp while on Accutane.
Senior Member gillenator Posted September 11, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted September 11, 2023 Honestly, you need to get several opinions regarding this from dermatologists who have lots of experience treating patients with this drug and also understand treating hair loss. 2 Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. My opinions are not medical advice, but are my own views which you read at your own risk. Senior Member A Fue Good Men Posted September 11, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted September 11, 2023 I doubt any regular member on this forum can answer this question confidently. accutane can make your skin very dry and in some cases that remains permanent as it can destroy sebaceous glands over time. on top of all that, accutane is somewhat notorious for causing hair loss. I agree with the previous poster and suggest you consult with several dermatologists and hair transplant surgeons to make a plan.
