It looks like typical female balding (Ludvig scale) to me, have you seen a professional yet? They would be able to confirm it. A good dermatologist /trichologist could help identify what’s happening and/or a Hair Transplant Clinic. 
It does not appear to follow the usual pattern for Alopecia Areata.

Highly doubt this is alopecia areata. Typically alopecia areata shows up as bare circular patches. This looks like general thinning over the entire top area that we typically see with female pattern hair loss. Definitely consult with a physician to confirm.
