I am 17, my hairline seems to have moved, should I be concerned?

@thr0waway,

I don’t know what the family history of hair loss looks like for you however, if you are sure that your hairline has moved, and you may be already experiencing early onset of androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness.  Ultimately, at 17 years of age, you’re far too young to be considered for a hair transplant and more so, because of the fact that your hair loss is minimal at this point.

That said, I do suggest consulting a dermatologist/hair restoration specialist about potentially getting on finasteride and minoxidil. It’s especially crucial at your age to speak to a doctor about finasteride because of the potential of side effects.  And at your age there may be some extra precautions or steps to consider, etc.

I hope this helps.

Seems from your pics that you may be a victim of male pattern baldness so you may consult a good doctor and start medication ...after doing all the required reports make a long term plan...finasteride is what you need and at 17 i would say doctor may set a specific micro dosing which helps in stabilising your hairloss progression ...17 years is way too young but on the other hand its good that you haven't ignored the fact that you are receding and thinking of trying to find a solution...its always better to deal with this issue as early as possible....best of luck my friend ....and keep updating

at age of 17, meds wont be given to you and shouldnt be given to you. need to be 18 to get even topical minoxidil.  finasteride micro-dosing or topical finasteride should be used for you from when you turn 18 to till you reach 20 then start proper oral finasteride regime of 1mg 3x a week and then latter go to the 1mg 7x a week.

at this age dont get on medications without proper consultation, you need to wait a bit for them.

I would never suggest anyone starting fin/dut before at least 20 years of age. You need DHT to finish developing your body. You aren't done developing at 17 years old.

I would say that most of us finish developing at 18 so you aren't that far from that stage.

Starting Minoxidil wouldn't be a bad idea and perhaps considering the use of topical Finasteride until your 18th birthday would be ideal of course consult with a doctor.

The hairline seems to have moved so it's an early onset of MPB but with the right treatment plan you will be able to keep your hairs for eternity.
