Regular Member MaximumMM Posted May 7, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 Hello! I can't find a good answer to this. What percentage of the transplanted hairs normally shed? And does it matter? Cheers!
Regular Member BackFromTheBrink Posted May 7, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 Most of them, I'd say 80-90 percent. It doesn't affect the outcome in any way.

Regular Member BackFromTheBrink Posted May 7, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 Generally I think after 2 months you'll keep what you're left with. Theres the lucky fabled 5% who don't shed though I've never seen any cases where that's the case. It's entirely possible you've done your shedding, but the only way to know is through being patient 😊
Regular Member Bucky O Hair Posted May 7, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 I'm curious to know what proportion of shed generally happens when your scabs come off versus the amount comes off during that 4-8 week period postop.
Senior Member gillenator Posted May 7, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 What we do know for sure is that all living hair follicles cycle between phases so eventually the shedding of the grafts occurs when the underlying transplanted hair follicles go into their respective resting/dormant phase…this occurs intermittently some sooner, some later, but it will eventually happen…the main reason why most of the transplanted hair follicles go dormant is because of how they are responding to trauma and the fact that their corresponding blood supply is interrupted. 1 Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. Senior Member mister_25 Posted May 7, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted May 7, 2023 I would say that it differs for everyone. In my case, I didn’t start shedding until around day 25 and by day 35 I had shedded almost all my front hair including native. About 95%+ of my entire frontal third has shedded.
