Nervous Before Transplant

Hi all,

How do you deal with pre-transplant nerves? I am quite nervous leading up to it just because so much is out of my control.

I had one previous 1200 graft transplant in 2019 at Bosley that didn't do anything and I have chosen one of the top hair restoration specialists in the US for the procedure. He has incredible results and glowing reviews and I researched him for a year before committing. I am not going to name him but I will post a before and after and name him once I am done so you all can see the results.

Were you all nervous leading up to it?

Also, I have moderate thinning in zone 1 that is only noticable when you are close to me. I have a "see through scalp" effect, but the rest of my hair is decently dense. I am just getting this zone 1 issue corrected.

How long do you think it'll take for it to look like I just have a buzz cut instead of having had a procedure?

Since I am just thinning a bit in zone 1 (still have my hair line, it is just see through and thinning), I am curious of whether or not it'll just look like I have a buzz cut from month 2 onwards. The areas that are going to be transplanted will be in my hair line and behind it.

I am sure this is a bit vague but just curious of other's experiences. Thanks a lot.

@Ralph kaka,

it’s completely normal to be a little nervous prior to undergoing her transplant surgery, especially if you’ve had an experienced that was less than optimal. But rest assured, if you selected a reputable surgeon with a proven track record of producing excellent results, you will have a much different experience this time.

that said, it’s still perfectly normal to feel a bit of anxiety.  hopefully it’s also coupled with some excitement as hair transplant surgery with an excellent physician will lead to a fully looking head of hair that you should be happy with.

Best wishes,

It’s normal. Just accept it.

About it looking like a normal buzzcut… the first month it will likely be reddish and tender, and you’ll have scabs the first few weeks. Then most of the hairs will fall out, and you’ll look like before the surgery but with short hair,

I'd be concerned if you didn't feel that way.  But, is there such a thing as trusting your instincts?  If you've done the research, reviewed photos of results, asked the right questions, that should give you a sense of comfort.  Is the doctor doing the surgical part of the procedure? Or are the techs?  Like you said, lots of things out of your control.  You've done this before, and you are part of this community.  I'd say you are better prepared than most.
