Senior Member phil mascallpen Posted January 25, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted January 25, 2010 I have a trip to Mexico planned the last week of March. At that time I'll be 4 months and a week post-op. How careful do I have to be about the recipient area when it comes to hanging out at the beach in the sun? I'll be at the beach pretty much every day. Anyone with experience here?

I'd say that the recipient area is still vunerable, simply because it probably pretty much bald (or bald-like) and easy burnt. I don't think you want to run the risk of a sun-burn to create more trauma, swelling and inflammation in the area. But that's my non-medical opinion. Senior Member Forrest Gump Posted January 25, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted January 25, 2010 I would wear a hat in the sun the first 6 months or so.
Regular Member bighosedragger Posted January 25, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted January 25, 2010 If it were me I would focus on not letting the recipient area from getting any kind of sun burn. Maybe wear the hat for most of the day and taking it off for brief periods to get some sun...but again avoiding sun burn.
