Minoxidil only working for 48 weeks - why is nobody talking about this?

Here is the Minoxidil Drug Facts sheet PDF from nih.gov. What exactly does this mean?

"hair regrowth has not been shown to last longer than 48 weeks in large clinical trials
with continuous treatment with minoxidil topical solution 5% for men"

All I've read and heard so far about minoxidil is that you're supposed to be on it for the rest of your life. But the Drug Facts says that it won't for more than a year.

It might be saying that the period that you will be experiencing regrowth lasts for 48 weeks. Its not like your going to lose your gains after 48 weeks.

read the next paragraph: "continuous use of minx is needed to maintain hair regrowth". 

after you've had the regrowth - don't you want to keep it?

Obviously minoxidil won’t continue to regrow hair. There’s a limit.

it's like a supplement, basically you get the benefit after using it for an amount of time.

you will keep benefiting from it as long as you take it, but once you are off, then the benefits will also go away after a while.
