i have already detailed my search for a uk surgeon to do some crown work earlier on this forum in sept 09( search my handle). here is my account albeit brief

arrived at surgery to go through formalities before getting ushered into the surgery room which was immaculate.there was around half a dozen staff present.

after brief pleasentaries i sat on the surgery chair and was given a choice of dvds to choose from as i was going to be in that seat for 6 hours!!!!!

i then recieved some mild sedatives orally in form of tablets before given some freezing injections to donor area which i would describe as like being given a jag at the dentist before recieving treatment.thats how relatively painless it was!!!!!.

dr bessam then extracted the donor area before stitching up a 9 inch extraction area.this strip is then given to assistants who extract the fues. whilst this is being done, dr fargo is carefully making the incisions for grafts to be planted(no discomfort felt at all during this)

1400 grafts planted later which toke 4 dvds via a lunch break and it was all completed to no discomfort other than the intial jag which again is no more than you will experience at the dentist.

originally i was planning to wear a hat however as the grafts were difficult to notice and i ws on holiday straight after surgery i decided none was required. not one person in the week straight after gave me a second look.

ten days after surgery i went to a nurse to get stitches removed, not only did she tell me they were dissolvable stitches so not req to come out she also complimented mr farjos needle skills!!!!

im now at the 3 month stage and already i have what i would describe as many baby hairs coming through ,although mick and dr farjo keep stressing it takes 6 months to see the diffrence.im delighted with the progress of the grafts and equally how disguised the donor scar is now as i like short hair.virtally undetactable

i will update the forum soon on pictures but thought this blog might be useful to someone as certainly this forum was invaluable to me making my decisions!!!

only regret i have is that i should have got it done 2 years ago!!

so far so good with the transplant so cant fault dr farjo(exept improve dvd collection) however as everyone stresses do your homework before choosing a surgeon.

many thanks

Glasgow,

I'm pleased to read that you've had a smooth, relatively pain-free experience at the Farjo clinic, and that you're confident in your choice of an excellent physician.

We all look forward to your pictures. You might want to eventually consider putting together your own patient website which can be updated as you progress.

Best,

Anthony (youngsuccess)
