Got very aggressive transplant a few years back. Erm - help?!

A few years ago I had a 3250 FUE procedure into the hairline - aggressive, hairline only, temple closure, the whole works. Stupid I know, but I was 24 and panicky. I'm now wondering about options.

 

While I'd love to keep as much hair as possible, my real concern is not looking like I've had a transplant. With long hair I spend all my time panicking about sweat, water, wind etc (which reveals my thinness, pluggy hairline and gap behind it). With short hair I don't have to worry about all that which is a big psychological relief, but it exposes a very clear 2cm line of hair that is obvously not natural.

 

In short, I'm looking for a plan of action. I'm happy to have another transplant if it's deemed the best course, but considering how low my hairline is at the moment, my lack of strip scar and my preference for buzzed hair, I'm not sure it could look natural once I hit my 40s and/or lose more hair. (Current loss seems to be stable thanks to Propecia)

 

On the other hand, there seems to be redness and bumpiness in my recipient area, and I'm not sure how effectively that could be fixed if I were to have the grafts moved/removed.

 

If anyone has any advice on this, I'd love to hear it.

 

Finally, any suggestions for the most appropriate doctor to discuss these sorts of problems with? Wolf? Bernstein? Hasson? Feller? I'm willing to travel anywhere.

I would give Matt a call at Shapiro Medical .

They have did a ton of repair patients and Ron is considered one of the best in the world .

Keep in mind that if you consult with a doc that only does strip they will likely tell you that strip is the way to go. I'm not saying it isn't but a doc that does both could give you the pros and cons of both methods.

 

Also are you taking meds to prevent further hair loss? (If you do take them you need to be aware of the possible risks. Many people on here are taking them having decided that they can live with the risks.)

Any more info dude, doc, pics? We are information and pic junkies here and it helps give more accurate advice...

 

I'd book a consult with Feller, shipiro etc as both do FUE, but strip could be best, all depends but I feel these two surgeons will give you honest advice.

imissthebarber: Thanks - good advice. For all the problems I have, I don't have a strip scar, which is something. The fue holes are still pretty noticable, but if I could get the front looking natural I'd be comfortable explaining them away. I've been on propecia & minoxidil for years. As far as I can tell, my hair loss hasn't progressed any further since starting them - that includes since I got the transplant.

 

Petchski: Yes, Feller is certainly up the top of my list. Unfortunately no pics at the moment, I'll try take some soon but I only have a webcam on me, and I'm guessing webcam-quality pics are a little pointless.

 

After rushing in a little too brashly last time, I might play it safe and consult with multiple doctors. Feller/Shapiro/Hasson/Bernstein is the current list.
