Pounds to Euro exchange rate in turkey

Hi I’m going to turkey next month for a HT with Dr Erdogan, just been advised that I can take English pounds and change them into euros there.

Has anyone done this before? Is it similar to the exchange rate back home?

Or is it beat to change before you go? Thanks

I would clarify how much better these rates are locally?

Presuming you have paid a deposit I am guessing you may have around ?6k to change over.

Do you really want to be walking through bazaar's to find a good rate and then producing a big wedge of cash as onlookers see you change it then shove it back in your bag?

There are many messages on here from people worried about taking the money overseas and getting safely to the clinic with it - im not sure I'd want to add the risk of walking around town with it.

Maybe, I am being over cautious but I think you should only consider doing this if you have a massive conversion advantage to make by doing it locally.
