Advice on hair loss and transplant

I am considering a hair transplant and would appreciate any views on whether it's a good idea.

 

I am 34 years old and have experienced significant hair loss in the last couple of years.

 

The doctor has diagnosed it as male pattern baldness, and subscribed finasteride which has stopped me losing more, I have been taking it for the last 6 months. The reason I am confident I am not losing more is because there is less hair in the shower etc. I have taken regaine for 8 months too but hasn't worked so have stopped it.

 

It does run in the family with father and siblings receding hairlines and crowns.

 

I would rather have hair whilst I am still fairly young but do not want to do it if it will lead to more loss so all views most welcome.
