Senior Member lanthanos Posted January 18, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted January 18, 2009 http://www.consumerreports.org...archTerm=hair%20loss Found this on consumer reports. A quote from the article: "The following costs, for example, are deductible to the extent they address a health issue: wigs recommended by a doctor for mental health of a patient suffering hair loss due to disease"
Alexa H.
I also found a quote about it! "If you lost your hair due to medical reasons such as chemotherapy, alopecia, or other medical conditions, when requesting a prescription from your physician, the full lace wig should then be referred to as a "full cranial prosthesis" which will then enable it to be covered under most medical insurance policies. Most insurance companies will cover between 60-100% cost for your full cranial prosthesis. However, if you request coverage for a wig, chances are your claim will be denied."
