Regular Member Ritwick Posted July 27, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) My Hair loss started when I was 17 (2003). It started as a classic case of receding hairline (MPB). I consulted a doctor and he adviced me to use Finasteride 1mg and Minoxidil 5%. I used it for around 2 years on and off before stopping. It may have controlled my hairloss a bit but can't say for sure as I never used it regularly. I did not see any side effects apart from a bit of extra facial hair. No sexual side effects, but then, I was 17-18 and not very sexually active. I tried Homeopathy by Dr Batra during 2008. The receding continued. It was when I started getting crown thinning when I was 24-25 (2010-2011), I was shaken. I started to keep very short hair. I was a NW6 or 7 in 2013 july. Thats when I decided to go for HT. I did a 2800 FUT in front and crown area. It was done by Dr M M Gupta from Lucknow, India. I didn't have much choice, as my dad was the one who paid, and Dr Gupta was a friend of my dad. I saw his results, and they were good. I am supposed to do another session 2014 end for crown and other fillers, not sure whether FUE or FUT (Suggest). Not sure about Surgeon either (Suggest). I am considering Dr Bhatti of Chandighar, India for FUE, as he is cheap and AFA i know the best in India. I live in Toronto, Canada as of now but am originally from India and did my transplant when I was in India visiting my family. I know Dr Rahal is one of the best but very expensive for FUE (7$ per graft I believe) . I am going to be on 5% Minoxidil and 1mg Finasteride as long as possible and hope my crown area and total condition improves before getting another HT. Please comment on my condition. I could use some insight. I am nervous and excited both. These pics are 1 week post op Edited July 27, 2013 by Ritwick

Regular Member Ritwick Posted July 27, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 27, 2013 Sorry forgot to mention that. These are 1 week post op. My Dr has Pre and Post Op photos of the day, but he still has not emailed me those.
Regular Member Ritwick Posted July 28, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 28, 2013 Bump. Please answer guys. I could really use some experienced insight on this. Also, I am 9 days post-op (FUT) and I still experience pain in my crown and donor area. It's not constant, usually more during evening, and it comes like currents of pain. (Stays for 5 secs, then nothing for a minute). Is that normal for 9 days post op? I still have the stiches on. Also how many days till this pain disappears to a bearable level, I mean when I don't constantly feel it during day-to-day activities. Thanks a lot. Senior Member Fue123 Posted July 28, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 28, 2013 The pain you describe sounds like nerve pain. I'd start taking a b complex vitamin right away and talk to your doctor. This will go away but can take some time. To be honest, and not to discourage or scare you but the implanted grafts appear to be lined up and unnaturally placed to me. It's hard to tell from these pics alone though. Can you supply some more current pics? Also pre op and immediate post op?
Regular Member Ritwick Posted July 28, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 28, 2013 Thanks for the reply. I will post those pics as soon as I get them from the doctor. Is that a bad thing? Will it make the hairline look unnatural?
Senior Member Fue123 Posted July 28, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 28, 2013 Well hair doesn't normally grow like that. It's not perfectly lined up it is totally random and both directions and angles change.
Regular Member Ritwick Posted July 28, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 28, 2013 Hmm. I will take a better picture after the shower tomorrow and post it here.
Regular Member Ritwick Posted July 29, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 29, 2013 Hello, These are 10 days post op pics that I took after a shower. I used flash so that you can see every follicle properly. Inputs on the work please. I hope its not so bad, that it can't be fixed in a later HT. As I said, I am a fresh masters graduate still unemployed, so my dad paid for the procedure and I really did not have an option for another clinic. Maybe I was a fool and too desperate . Also, If you see the pic taken from the front, there is a thinner area in mid scalp. I just noticed it today after the shower. Is it coz the scabs are cleared from that area or did the follicles fall out or the Dr made that area thinner purposely? Please comment Thanks. Senior Member Fue123 Posted July 29, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 29, 2013 It looks a bit better in these pics. The center patch may be normal graft shedding. All those grafts will begin to fall out. Are you following any post op care regimen? Vitamin E? Saline? We're you instructed not to shower? The grafts are very fragile right now you must take care to not injure them and shouldn't be touching them or allowing the shower water to run directly on them. What's done is done now just take proper care and follow strict post op care instructions. I would consult with a different surgeon and not simply choose one because you have no other options. Regular Member Ritwick Posted July 29, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 29, 2013 Thanks a lot for reply man. Post op care includes Minoxidil application Finasteride Multivitamin pill (includes biotin) No saline - whats that used for? I was instructed on how to shower. As of now, I am not using shower but use jugs of water to take bath, so that there is no high speed water impact due to shower on head. I am not touching the follicles. Only while applying baby shampoo, I run my palm over it, but ever so lightly. And just tap them lightly with fingertips after minoxidil application. Also, I saw that you had your FUE with Dr. Rahal. I know his FUE rates are costly around 8$ per graft + taxes. Does he give you any discount?
Senior Member Fue123 Posted July 29, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 29, 2013 Hey, you are supposed to spray saline on the grafts every two hours and drip vit e oil on them daily. The baby shampoo is good but I wouldn't touch the grafts to much.
Regular Member Ritwick Posted July 30, 2013 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 30, 2013 Also, I will be 14 days post-op on friday. Will get my stitches removed (YAY). Is it ok to wear a somewhat loose baseball cap on my head now? Should I wear a bandana below that too or just the cap? I can't stay inside anymore and don't want to expose my head to heat and dust
Senior Member Fue123 Posted July 30, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2013 A loose fitting cap should be ok so long as it is new and clean.
