propecia / finasteride are an important tool to fight balding. Hair transplants replace hair that has been lost, but propecia / finasteride slow or halt hair that you still have from being lost. Holding on to the hair you still have is a critical part of fighting baldness. If you get a hair transplant and don't take the meds you will most likely continue to lose hair that surrounds the transplanted hair.

Like with most prescriptions, the meds can cause some side effects in some patients. The side effects can range from mild to severe. Sometimes adjusting dosage can help patients that see side effects. And sometimes the side effects can diminish over time. As with all medical drugs each patient must weigh out the benefits vs. the side effects and decide what is best for their own case. The unavoidable reality is that in many cases there are consequences for taking the meds and there are consequences for not taking the meds.

Remember a hair transplant turns back the clock,

but it doesn't stop the clock.
