Regular Member 21YearsAndScared Posted August 16, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted August 16, 2012 What exactly is the "shedding" when on finasteride? Is it hair that sheds away forever, or hairs that shed and grow back? If a few hairs shed away forever, then is the risk to take = hair density over quantity, since it's supposed to make your hair more dense, but you lose quantity from shedding? Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted August 17, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted August 17, 2012 I think Dr. Charles puts if very succinctly in this article, Shock Loss and Hair Growth after Hair Transplant Surgery: What to Expect. Basically, some hairs may be lost permanently but those hair were probably just about dead anyway. Most of the hairs should grow back. The idea is that those miniaturized hairs that are saved will return thicker and fuller. Even though some may be lost forever, you should still see an increase in overall density. Regular Member 21YearsAndScared Posted August 18, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 18, 2012 Thanks for the reply, so I suppose I was correct in my theory; finasteride in turn increases the speed of hair loss before adding density
