doejohn
Hi Everyone, I have a question about miniturization. I am 27 and my hair when I was in my early 20s was a medium brown color. I have been on propecia since I was 21 which has been effective in keeping my hair; however, I have noticed that my hair seems to be getting finer but also darker. I know that depigmentation is a part of miniturization, so would my hair getting darker fall into this category? It has become a chocolate brown. It looks glossy and very healthy but finer. I don't know what to make of it. Thanks for the replies! doejohn
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted May 13, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted May 13, 2012 John Doe ... er, I mean Doe John ; ), Personally, I've never heard of this phenomenon before. Just you be clear, you're saying that your hair seems to be miniaturizing and turning darker at the same time? Frankly, I don't think there would be any proven connection between extra pigmentation and thinning hair, and my best "guess" is that it's simply changes accompanying the miniaturization. Honestly, it could be something as simple as analyzing your hair more frequently, extra exposed scalp creating a starker contrast between your existing hairs, etc. At this point, I think it may be best to have your hair analyzed by a trusted hair restoration expert. Seriously, I have never ready of any causal relationship between hair colour and miniaturization. As others have advised please allow yourself the benefit by visiting one of the recommended specialists in HTN. An and advocate for one of those surgeons I can't stress enough how important it is for you to get a proper medical evaluation and take out the guess work on what's going on.
