Ethanjorg
I have a transplant scheduled two month from now. I have started using Minoxidil only about two weeks ago. I understand that there is a shedding period for the first few months of applying Minoxidil. Can this shedding interfere with procedure, as the surgeon might identify those shedding spots as bald spots and transplant hair into them, when actually those are just temporary bald spots due to the Minoxidil shedding. In other words, should I stop using Minoxidil, and wait to start using it only after the procedure? Thanks
Senior Member mattj Posted November 18, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted November 18, 2011 What are your doctor's instructions for stopping Minoxidil before surgery? Some doctors like patients to stop using it a week or two before surgery, to resume two weeks post-op. Personally I think you might have chosen a bad time to start and it might be best to put off using it until after surgery, but you should consult with your surgeon.
