Guest donald Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Hi guys, Just looking to add Biotin to my diet. Has any one had good results from taking Biotin-better quality hair more body etc. What dosage should be taken and how often. Thanks Don.
Knic Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I've taken 5,000mcg (5mg) of Biotin for 4 months now. I can't say I have seen any real noticeable improvement in my hair, it might grow slightly faster. It's pretty cheap and worth a shot though, might be more noticeable once I cut my hair as my last hair cut was in August and I have longish "hockey hair."
Regular Member DavidRodgersMSNutrition Posted June 6, 2012 Regular Member Posted June 6, 2012 Biotin deficiency has been shown to cause hair loss, and restoring biotin with supplements has been shown to reverse this hair loss. (Possible biotin deficiency in adults receivin... [Am J Clin Nutr. 1983] - PubMed - NCBI) However, for most men, biotin won't do anything, because biotin deficiency is pretty rare. This was found out because people were on intravenous nutrition that didn't contain any biotin. If you take a multi-vitamin or a B-Complex vitamin, you should get plenty, and more biotin won't grow more hair. David Rodgers, MS Nutrition Nutritionist, Hair Loss Author
