I am a 27 year old male

I just started to recede and was wondering if i am a candidate for a hair transplant. I know people say you shouldn't get a hair transplant when you are just starting to recede but why is that? If more recession occurs can't you just get another hair transplant?

(btw im not a spammer im a noob so i put the question in multiple threads.. a moderator can move it and my sincerest apologies if i caused any of you discomfort)

here are some additional questions i would like to ask..

1. I was wondering what i am on the norwood scale?

2. Should i start propecia?

3. If worst comes to worst how many graft hair transplant do i need?

4. I heard some people say it is not good to get a hair transplant when you just start to lose hair.. why is that? I am a noob so excuse my dumb questions.

5. Does propecia help with the frontal or does it only thicken up the vertex?

6. I used to cut my hair short all the time now im afraid if i cut it bald people see how badly i am receding. Any advice is appreciated fellas.

7. If i just let my hair stay relaxed when it is long or even pony tail it when it is long it is not that noticeable. The only time it is noticeable is when i pull it back and take a picture like i did below.

8. Do you think the fact i pull my hair back really hard makes my hair looks more recessed than it is?

Here are some of my photos... if you guys need clearer shots let me know or if any experts want to see me via skype let me know as well through pm i will shoot you my skype. (no homo)

9. Do i have a "maturing" adult hairline... is that just that a myth. I see plenty of people with really low nice hairlines ::envies;:: when they are in their 30s and 40s. any insight is greatly appreicated!

From the looks of it you seem like a Norwood 2. Propecia is certainly beneficial as it should help stop any further hairloss toward the top and crown of your head. The medication usually doesn't show much improvement in the hairline area for most people, but it can its just much less common. At the moment you are not severely thinning or balding and you could possibly do a small procedure to the corners of the hairline but it won't be very large, because you haven't lost too much and it looks quite good in my opinion. If you were to do a treatment I don't believe it would be larger than 1000-1200 grafts. Your hairloss is simply a maturing hairline and there are others who are lucky and still retain their native hairline. Again I think your hair looks good as there is only a little recession and you have a nice mature hairline, but you could do a small procedure if you really wanted to, but you should consult with a recommended surgeon.

everyone is telling me not to go with a hair transplant early on that its really bad. why do they say that?

nw1 is no hair loss at all right?

are their surgeries to get rid of a widows peak?

can hair transplants bring back juvenile hairlines as in make them lower?

can a hair transplant bring me back to a nw1 or my juvenile hairline?

It is not bad but it is not recommended if you do not warrant a procedure at this point. Technically you can have a transplant bring you back to your juvenile hairline, but it is highly unrecommended as you will need a lot of grafts to make that happen and if you go on to lose more hair in the future, which can certainly happen you will not have enough donor to keep your appearance looking natural. The transplanted hairs are permanent so doctors give you a mature hairline that will look normal for the rest of your life. The only thing I can see possibly happening is to do a small procedure just to the corners to bring them down just a bit to lessen the recession look, but you shouldn't have a procedure bring you back to your juvenile hairline. See a recommended surgeon and he or she will be able to show you what they can do and recommend.

since i am a noob can you give me a rough estimate of how much this procedure would cost?

how much would the stripping procedure cost?

how much would the fue procedure cost?

what advantages does stripping have over fue? i know fue is scarless but what other advantages are there?

First you need to see if a doctor finds you to be a good candidate by checking your donor supply and designing a conservative and appropriate hairlin for your age and for the future. I'm not sure exactly how many grafts as your photos are a bit far away and it's always best to see it in person, but I would say an estimate of 1000-1200 grafts at a cost of $4-$5 per graft for FUT and $8-$10 per graft for FUE depending on the doctor. The strip procedure has a better yield overall than FUE and that yield differs from surgeon to surgeon, as some have more experience and success with FUE than others. The FUT is more efficient for that reason.
