My HT experience

Hi All

I am from singapore and had my first HT in 2007. Done FUT at 1250 grafts but results sucks. Guess less than 50% of the graft actually grew.

2nd HT with the same doctor, but this time doing FUE. this was done ard june this yr. I asked the doctor how many grafts do i need at that point of time and he said its up to me. So i chose to have 500 grafts. In the end, the 500 grafts ended up in a very big area, obviously not creating enough density.

But until now, the transplanted graft never show much progress, and the hair dropped during shock loss seems like not growing back also.

At month 5, do you think there is chance for the hair dropped during shock loss to grow back? It seems that i have less hair now than before the HT.

I regretted not coming to this forum and check before i carry out my HT. MY donor area have now reduced.

Now, i am considering going bangkok and consult Dr Path regarding HT. Should i wait until month 10 before going over to bangkok for consultation? or should i go over to bangkok now to consult Dr Path?

tarepanda,

Welcome to the community! I'm sorry to hear about your first hair transplant results. Obviously, I don't know who your hair restoration physician is and therefore cannot comment on his abilities, but I wouldn't give up hope on your second procure yet.

At 5 months post-op, you should be at the point where most of the shocked hair is just starting to grow back. Give it time.

If you don't see results from this procedure than I think consulting with Dr. Pathomvanich in Thailand is a great idea but I suggest waiting at least 10 months.

All the best,

Hi Tarepanda, can i check which doc did your first HT? However, if u find it inconvenient to reveal, i can understand, its just that your story will shed more light for potential patients :)

I personally recommend Dr Pat. Actually, i think its fine to go for consultation now. Obviously u will need to wait but bear in mind that Dr Pat typically needs a 3 month pre-reservation. Moreover, u will meet Dr Oravan, the specialist who attends to all enquiries and first meetings. She is very knowledgeable and i am sure she will be able to assist u

Gd luck!

hi wb 280,

my doctor is from singapore. unheard of inside this forum.

anyway, he does not only perform HT, he also does other aesthetic procedures. thus i believe his experience might not be so good.

thks for the advice!! maybe i'll wait until early next yr before i go for my consultation with Dr Path's clinic.

Air tix now more expensive as its travelling season now in Singapore, lol.

btw, i understand that you are also from Asia. r u also a Singaporean?

Hi i m sorry to hear that u had a bad result.I also had a disaster result from a u.k. clinic who butchered my donor but Dr.Path has saved me with 2 excellent surgeries and approx 5700 graphs more im looking good,i think so anyway .

MY SUGGESTION TO YOU IS,

PLEASE dont mess about looking at other places or surgeons close to you.

Dr.PATH is one of the best in the world so WHY wouldnt you go with him since Thailand is quite a short flight.

Yes he is busy, just book a procedure with him now for advanced date of approx 10 months post op so your gauranteed a date and youll have time to massage your scalp for a few moths to get it as loose as possible because that will GAURANTEE you more graphs if your scalp is nice and loose for Dr.Path can cut out more and put you back on track to looking good again and feeling good.

I dont work for him and my views are my own,i just like him because he gave me my confidence back and im soooo sooo happy with my results, plus his prices are reasonable.

GO FOR IT

cow has just reaffirmed what i wanted to say. However, i cannot jump the gun as i am only 5.5 months and results are only sub par but i understand its still early and i am confident!

You should just book an appointment and visit him. Take one of the budget airlines it will cost less than S$ 300 i reckon

Good luck!

I can only say just do it because LIFE IS SHORT and you want to enjoy it with confidence whilst your young enough.

Baldness is really horrible for most males,it strips our confidence mostly.

Doesnt matter if you spend $5k or $10k or $20k on your hair because the rewards are worth it and youll make the money back but your hair cant return without surgery my friend.

Yep its the waiting and downtime thats the toughest waiting for growth.

Patience will show that it works after a few months if you take care of your head post op.

If you want to know anymore details of Bangkok and Dr.PATH clinic or where to stay,im happy to oblige.

All i can say is you wont be dissapointed and Dr.Path will not lead you down the wrong road ok.

DO IT WHILST YOUR YOUNG AND STRONGER.

panda, i am 33 this year so we are just 1 year diff in age! I just sent u a PM :)

Anyway, i stayed at Pathumwan princess ( i always stayed there when i go Bangkok for biz trips ) which is about 15 to 20min cab ride but i would not recommend if u r on a budget. There were many threads on several hotels near Dr Pat's clinic so just spend some time to do a search.

tarepanda, ahhhhhh sorry i din see your reply :) will send u a couple mailers over the weekend :)

for the ugly duckling phase, i am afraid there is no way out. Nobody wants to look weird but believe me, in order to present yourself as the best candidate for the doc to perform magic, i feel like shaving is necessary. Of course there are surgeons in this forum that do not require shaving and i am not saying that non-shaving produces sub par results but i just feel that we should accomodate the doc as much as we could. Focus on what we need, not what we want. We do not want shaving, do not want this that, but we ask for the best results. Its like tying the surgeon's hands and demanding that a goob job be done. All in all, i strongly suggest you to get on with that shave, live it out for a few months, everything will be done not to worry so much :)

i have booked my return air tix (only $2 before tax, :D:D) to bangkok for a consultation with Dr Path's clinic on feb 2011. i believe having face to face consultation will be much better than the online consultation.

By then, i will be abt 8 months post op.

hopefully i can see better results than what i am having now.

is there still hope that my hair dropped during shock loss to return after 6mths post ops?

sorry if u had answer this question many times... cos i m just feeling lousy now when i appeared to have lesser hair than before HT after 6mths post ops.

panda, is it just your perspective? Sometimes we patients can be too harsh on ourselves so u might want to show some pre op and current pics!

Anyway 6months post op i think the native hair should start to grow back but like HT hair, time is needed so dun despair! However, i have to admit that its not as common so i would strongly suggest u to take it up with your doc.

No worries abt it, we can understand your frustration but u are not alone my friend. While waiting for the experienced posters to comment, may i suggest some pics so that we have a clearer idea!

take care mate!
