Waviness

Recommended Posts

I'm a 25yr old and a Norwood 4 or 5a. I'm scheduled for a hair transplant in two months and I have a question about waviness. My hair is quite wavy and I've seen pictures on the internet of other men with wavy hair whose hair stands straight up and looks like a birds nest. It looks like every hair is bending in a different direction. I want my hair to look natural and I want the individual hairs to bend in the same direction with each other. I'm wondering if this is a function of the radial orientation of the follicle as viewed perpendicularly from the scalp. Would all of the hair have to placed at the same radial position as it was when it was in the back of my head? For example all the hair on one part of my head bends left first then right. So, if all of the hairs were randomly twisted in their sockets, I would expect that some would bend left first, some up, some down etc, and then I would get that frizzy look. That's what I want ot avoid. Any thoughts or suggestions?

This a common problem with HTs. Mine is still more wavy than the rest of my hair. The docs will say that it "settles down" after a while, but I haven't seen that yet. I suspect it's unavoidable.

I have had 6 HT's done. With the first 5 all the new hair came out wavy and crooked, after about 12 months, (6 inches of hair) it straightend out. My hair is normaly very straight. The good news is the crooked hair does give a sense of more density. My most recent HT I had done is Jan wont start growning till April.

I would not worry...its a minor detail that only lasts a short time.

big it up

Experience:

6 HT to date.......wish this forum was around in the 90's!

I think you misunderstood my question. I don't care about straightening my hair. It's naturaly wavy and I want to keep it that way. What I'm concerned about is that the waves won't look natural if each hair is bending in a different direction. I want the waves to line up, not perfectly though, just enough so the hair lays naturally, and doesn't go all over the place. Although on bad hair days I'm sure it will do whatever it wants.

Don't worry, the hairs become "normal" like your existing hair after about 9-12 months. I have straight hair and they started out crooked in the beginning, now they're straight like the rest. Kind of weird how that happens.

I have wavy hair also and I had the same concerns. At first the hairs grew a little kinky and wild. After about 9 (?) months, some started growing in matching waves. More and more hairs began to conform until after a year or so everything started waving together. It is amazing. I did not expect such a good result. I really will post some photos sometime.
