Hair growing from a scar

I had a scalp reduction in the late 80's and a HT 4.5 months ago. The hair is growing in nicely but it doesn't seem to be growing on the old scars. Does it usually take longer to grow on a scar?

Yes- due to the scar tissue being tougher, it will probably take a little longer to come through.............kind of like hair growing through the trychophytic donor closure scar after HT surgery.

You might try using Rogaine twice a day on the scar. This will increase your vascular blood flow, which can help with the growth. The problem with the scar is the lack of blood flow, and so this could really help a lot.

Hi Brianf, who did you have your recent HT (scar repair) with? I am considering scar repair by transplanting grafts there to dilute my 4 scars. How did you cope with your post-op regime (washing, resting etc)? I'm worried that I could dislodge grafts by resting my head against a pillow etc. Was it difficult to care/treat the scars? I imagine applying Minoxidil to the back of the head would be rather difficult.
