The study also demonstrated that finasteride reduced the overall incidence of prostate cancer by 25%. Researchers say the drug appears to delay the development of cancer, but increases the risk of developing more deadly tumors. I am assuming that the PCPT was dosing patients with 5mg Proscar doses, as opposed the 1.25mg Propecia dose, but it is still something to think about.
