Senior Member Robert_ Posted December 13, 2004 Senior Member Share Posted December 13, 2004 Avacor is basically Minoxidil with some Saw Palmetto and other (useless) stuff thrown in. You can buy generic minoxidil OTC and save yourself tons of money. Rogaine (minoxidil) and Propecia (Finasteride) are the only FDA-approved medical treatments for hair loss. Avacor is able to claim that their concoction is FDA-approved because it does contain Minoxidil but you would be much better off (as well as your wallet) if you simply applied Minoxidil. Many hair loss sufferers utilize Propecia and Rogaine successfully. -Robert ------------------------------ Check out the results of my surgical hair restoration performed by Dr. Jerry Cooley by visiting my Hair Loss Weblog
Regular Member Access Posted December 14, 2004 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 14, 2004 Do i need to contact my doctor or i can start using Propecia/Rogaine right away? What's batter Propecia or Rogaine. Also where can i buy and how to apply Minoxidil? I see people doing different Percentage(2%-5%). Senior Member HairBeThere Posted December 14, 2004 Senior Member Share Posted December 14, 2004 It never hurts to contact a doctor for either. But for Propecia, you really should. As for Rogaine it is over the counter. Propecia is better, but combine the two, and it is generally even better yet. You can buy Minox, at most pharmacies. Just follow the instructions for application. 5% is obviously better.
