Senior Member pushing 40 Posted September 22, 2005 Senior Member Share Posted September 22, 2005 I am 39 yrs old; not sure how much balder I'll get. Can't go from family history since I don't know it. See how I'm really only balding in the front (as far as I can tell anyway). Its starting to piss me off now when I see pictures. I look fine from the front but the receeding temples have gotten bad. Should I take propecia? I keep reading it might not help at all since I'm balding in the front? Do you guys think I might be a good candidate for a HT? I'm hoping so since I'm already almost 40 and still have some up top. What do you think? Senior Member Gorpy Posted September 22, 2005 Senior Member Share Posted September 22, 2005 I would start Propecia. From what I've seen it does help stop hairloss, even in the front hairline area. Also, if you look carefully, your crown is starting to thin a little. It's good to stop it where it is right now. So get on the Finasteride (ingredient in Propecia). ____________ 2700 Total Grafts w/ Keene 9/28/05 663 one's = 663 1116 two's = 2232 721 three's = 2163 200 four's = 800 Hair Count = 5858 1000 Total Grafts w/Keene 2/08/07 Mostly combined FU's for 2600+ hairs My Photo Album See me at Dr. Keene's Gallery

Regular Member Skywalker Posted September 23, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted September 23, 2005 pushing 40, there are no guarantees but I think you are an excellent candidate for an HT (and there are not many about!). You must do what you think is best, I would not start taking Propecia at 40 but it is your call.
Senior Member Gorpy Posted September 23, 2005 Senior Member Share Posted September 23, 2005 OK, I'll bite. Why would you not start taking Propecia at 40? ____________ 2700 Total Grafts w/ Keene 9/28/05 663 one's = 663 1116 two's = 2232 721 three's = 2163 200 four's = 800 Hair Count = 5858 1000 Total Grafts w/Keene 2/08/07 Mostly combined FU's for 2600+ hairs My Photo Album See me at Dr. Keene's Gallery

Senior Member Robert_ Posted September 24, 2005 Senior Member Share Posted September 24, 2005 I'll go ahead and round out the equation with a third request for a reason why you don't think starting Propecia at 40 is a good idea... -Robert ------------------------------ Check out the results of my surgical hair restoration performed by Dr. Jerry Cooley by visiting my Hair Loss Weblog
