Senior Member troy Posted February 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2006 how far along are you post op? maybe you could go tanning. I went to one of those ultra brozing places and it turns you dark, but doesnt burn your skin. You just dont want the transplanted area to burn or exposed to sun. Senior Member wesley949 Posted February 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2006 Some folks on this forum swear by emu oil. I don't know if it affects the growth of the grafts or not. Based on what I have read, it apparently does not.
Senior Member hairbank Posted February 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2006 I've heard of tanning before the HT to disguise the redness. Anyone know how quickly you can "safely" tan after HT? Senior Member Gorpy Posted February 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2006 Hyper pigmentation is a permanent redness condition. Stay out of the sun. I am very fair skinned and my redness (pinkness) slowly faded over a 2.5 month period. ____________ 2700 Total Grafts w/ Keene 9/28/05 663 one's = 663 1116 two's = 2232 721 three's = 2163 200 four's = 800 Hair Count = 5858 1000 Total Grafts w/Keene 2/08/07 Mostly combined FU's for 2600+ hairs My Photo Album See me at Dr. Keene's Gallery
Senior Member troy Posted February 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2006 you cant go to a regular tanning place. A regular tanning bed will burn you. I went to a place that doesnt use uv rays, or that was my understanding, but I can go for 30 min and never burn, I just turn brown. At a regular tanning place I would fry if I attempted 30 min. Guest bro66
I went to H & M and bought a bunch of cool hats. This healing/recovery time sucks. Not much you can do except keep the area clean, eat healthy, drink plenty of mineral water, and just wait.
Senior Member dhuge67 Posted February 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2006 Is it abnormal to have hardly any discoloration? I see a bunch of hairs that held on and a slight pinkish color, but nothing very pronounced... I would assume that this could only be good? 1,614 with Dr. Pistone on 2/3/06 in Marlton, NJ. Sweet...again, I think my nearly perfect diet and youth have a lot to do with my quick and painless recovery, more than anything else. Taking care of yourself really does produce results when it comes to things like recovering from surgery. My body was also very used to heavy workouts and recovery from those, so since I was out of service for about 8 days, my body's recovery resources were all going to helping with my HT sites. 1,614 with Dr. Pistone on 2/3/06 in Marlton, NJ. Guest bro66
I did notice when I cut back on working out, mainly just cardio, my scar area started healing faster, and that throbing pain went away.

Senior Member Gorpy Posted February 13, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted February 13, 2006 Much of it has to do with your skin type, the density of the transplant and probably other factors. It varies greatly from person to person. ____________ 2700 Total Grafts w/ Keene 9/28/05 663 one's = 663 1116 two's = 2232 721 three's = 2163 200 four's = 800 Hair Count = 5858 1000 Total Grafts w/Keene 2/08/07 Mostly combined FU's for 2600+ hairs My Photo Album See me at Dr. Keene's Gallery

I think I'm just overthinking...my little hairs are there, no scalp irritation, and no "divets" to be seen. Things just seem great. I guess it's hard to believe based on the way it looked on day 2 to the way it looked on day 8. 1,614 with Dr. Pistone on 2/3/06 in Marlton, NJ. Guest bro66
I thought I washed my transplants down the drain at day 6, most of the scabs started falling off in the shower. I was very worried until I went in for my post HT follow-up.
Guest
My head was really red and never really went away until it began to get covered up with hair Dr. Keene said "tincture of Time" it was true. during that dormant stage where the hair fell out and before it began to grow in I did use some of my wifes makeup to take the edge off the redness but remeber that no one out there (except you and your significant other) really care what you look like. Its all about you for YOU... no one get's HT's for someone else.
