VaM
Hello All, I have been using propecia for almost a month now... 1. IS it advisable to plan for a baby while on propecia? 2. If the usage needs to be stopped, after how many days of stopping the propcia...baby can be planned? Any one with a realtime experience on this? Thanks! Bill - Seemiller
VaM, From my reading, the probability of a problem taking Propecia while trying to conceive is extremely low. Most physicians I've talked to feel that it's perfectly fine. But it seems that there is some lingering doubt with some physicians which is why I mentioned probability rather than absolution. Spex, a showcase for Dr. Feller and member of this forum recently posted on another related thread that he was using Propecia while trying to conceive and just had two healthy twins. Stories like this and physician input make me feel more comfortable about remaining on Propecia while trying to conceive when the time comes as well. But you should do your own research and discuss this with a number of physicians and draw your own conclusions. Best wishes, Bill

Senior Member Rick055 Posted September 29, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted September 29, 2008 How long does it take for the body to be rid of propecia? (not to be misunderstood with how long does it act to reduce DHT in tissue) 1.25 mg finasteride EOD Rogaine Foam 5% QD am Kirkland minoxidil 5% QD pm Nizoral Q2W American Crew Revitalize Shampoo
Guest Brad Limmer, MD
Ricko55, I contacted Merck (800-NSC-MERCK) and spoke to one of their specialist who has informed me that the half life (the time it takes for the number of radioactive nuclei originally present in a sample to decrease to one-half of the original number) was 4.7 to 7.1 hours in a study of 32 volunteers.
