Regular Member Mortimer Posted December 6, 2003 Regular Member Share Posted December 6, 2003 Hello everyone, Are there anybody from Istanbul/Turkey here? If so, I'd like to read about your experiences of HT. Where did you have it, and how do you comment on it?

Guest
Merhaba Mortimer, I didn't have my transplant in Turkey but my wife is Turkish. Most of her family lives in Istanbul. She and the kids spent a month over there this past summer. In fact I scheduled my transplant while she was away. Man, was she surprised when she got back. Anyway her parents live in Tesvikiye in Istanbul. My wife's friends husband had his transplant there and they say it turned out well. I can try and contact him and see if he is willing to chat with you about his procedure if you would like. Gule Gule, Cam

Guest
I will ask Yesim where her husband Izzy had his transplant. If you can send me an email I can relay all the info. Do you ever get over to the island Buyukada? We have a summer home there. My mother inlaw owns that white house next to the horse carriages on Buyukada. The one with the small porch right in front of the central clock at the Iskele. Small world eh! Cam
Guest
Hey Mortimer, Do you know Kaan the lead singer of Duman? No shit he is my wife's cousin. Aylin (my wife) went to one of his concerts this summer and he pulled her up on stage. She felt like a rock star. Kaan is a very cool dude believe me. Regular Member neverOld Posted December 8, 2003 Regular Member Share Posted December 8, 2003 I had my HT in Turkey at the Transmed Clinic in Istanbul. This clinic have great referances and nice results. I found them on this site. The personell and their service was excellent. The procedure went smooth, no problems at all (but shockloss) I'm at 5 month and 1 day today, and waiting for the first new hairs to appear
Regular Member Mortimer Posted December 9, 2003 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 9, 2003 thanks a lot for your answers.... Neverold, the one you had your HT is the same place I am considering. My impression is about the same as yours. They present themselves very good. One thing others (competitors) say about them is that the founder, who is a lady named Melike is actually an anhestetic specialist, not a plastic surgeon, so some say that their operations are not good. But, what counts is your personal experience, and it is the reality. Do you remember the name of the doctor who did your session? Cam, I know the Buyukada Island, but unfortunately I don't know the rock group you mentioned. May be I am too old for these groups....Look forward to hearing your response as well. thanks and regards,
Regular Member neverOld Posted December 10, 2003 Regular Member Share Posted December 10, 2003 My doctor was ms. Beyhan Ata?§. Very nice doctor. Melike founded the clinic with her husband, Reiner. I belive he is a plastic surgeon. I found the clinic at this forum, and I am very satisfied with the procedure. Everything went very smooth. They had their secretary pick me up at my hotel with a taxi. Off course, waiting for things to happen sucks, and I think 5 months is a long time, but Im shure things will grow eventually I had 1674 grafs: crown and hairline. Regular Member Mortimer Posted December 10, 2003 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 10, 2003 neverold, few last questions: 1) why did you choose this particular clinic? any specific reason? 2) how long did it take you to go back to the normal life? I mean how long your operation area to come to the stage where nobody can understand you had an operation? 3) did you use any supplementary medicine, like propecia? If so, what do you say about their effectiveness? 4) did you have any postop pain? (like right after the operation) thanks so much again
Guest
Mortimer, Don't want you to think I forgot about you. I'm waiting for my mother in-law to relay the info to me. I'll pass it on to you as soon I hear back. Cam
Regular Member neverOld Posted December 11, 2003 Regular Member Share Posted December 11, 2003 Hi again, I had no pain at all, not at the day of the operation or later. I dont use propecia or anything. Did for 7 moths five years ago (that whats really started my hairloss) Lost 30 % overnight, never came in again) I had a lot of hair, so I dont think anybody could see any signs of a HT. I picked this clinic because: 1. I found them on this site 2. They gave me all the answers I wanted by email 3. Reasonable pricing N
Guest
Mortimer, I just discovered that Izzy also had his transplant at Transmed with Melike Kulahc. He said the procedure went very well and he is extremely satisfied with the results. Izzy has personally introduced several friends to Melike so he must feel confident about the work she does. He would be more than happy to introduce you to the doctor and show you around the clinic if you are interested. You can contact Izzy at 212-242-4252 in Istanbul of course.
