Is it true that Asians typically have few 3-4 hair FUs?

I read somewhere that asians/middle-easterners typically have

a) mostly 1-2 hair FUs.

b) a bigger than average head

I am an asian with fine, straight, dark hair, an XL head, and light skin.

Am I screwed? icon_frown.gif

It has been my observation that Asians have lower follicular unit density on average, and therefore lower hair density. I am not sure about the averages in terms of hairs per follicular group, but it stands to reason that these averages may be lower as well.

Don't get too disappointed. You don't necessarily have low density. Remember, even if your donor density is a bit below average, it is not the only hair/scalp characteristic that determines the quality of your results.

Scooping around, could you please point me to your pics? Sorry I did a search but couldn't find them. Thanks.

Sure Furless, here's the link...

The problem is that I don't have a camera with high enough resolution to show the really fine hair that is starting to fill in. I'm currently at 3.5 months post op, but haven't updated the album because the camera just aren't capable of showing my progress at this point. I should be updating it sometime around 4.5 months post op. So far, my hair definitly appears a lot thicker than before, and the temples are starting to make the outline of my new hairline. If you're light-skinned like me, with dark hair, it's harder to achieve the illusion of full coverage like some of the other members here. I'm still wondering how come I don't see much Asian members on here. I see a lot of balding Asian men and women in person, but still believe I'm the first one that is "out-there" posting pictures and helping others on this site. Either most Asians are just not as resourceful, or more reserved about posting their pictures.

I was relieved to find out that I had excellent density.

Note 25% of my grafts were 4's icon_smile.gif
