  1. I had a procedure done there in 1997. Nothing bad happened, but I didn't notice a real improvement, either. It was at that time that I just gave up, until I stumbled onto this site last year.

I had a procedure done by Dr. Siporin in West LA, and I feel confident my research will play (grow) out well in the coming months.

  2. Wylie,

After a number of procedures in the 80s and 90s, I just gave up hope that I would get what I paid for. Fortunately, my frustration saved enough donor hair that I was able to have 2 FUT surgeries in the past 1 1/2 years. I pleased with the first and look forward to the second.

This site has restored my faith in HT surgery, at least the surgeons that are recommended.

    Best regards,

  3. I had both the plug grafts and follicular unit transplants, and I can tell you there is a significant difference between what is seen and what isn't.

I had a number of procedures using the former method, primarily to hide each previous surgery. Maybe I was just sensitive, but I always felt people were looking at my hairline and thinking, "he had a hair transplant."

Luckily, I had enough donor hair to get a total of 2800 FUT over the past 15 months. I can honestly say that, while I notice a marked degree of fullness, I can't tell the native hairs from the transplanted. If I can't, I doubt anyone else can.

Do what others on this site have suggested: do your research, talk to a recommended surgeon, and proceed with confidence.

  4. Just bear in mind that many posters here are reimbursed for recommending particular surgeons.

Also, I'm pretty sure that this site charges doctors a monthly fee to be represented. Consequently, you get a wealth of promotion from a contingent of employees.

There are several top hair transplant doctors in Southern California, if you do your research. I'm just not convinced that Hasson, Wong, et al. have the corner on artistic hair transplantation. They are willing to pay for web site exposure, which doubles their outreach capabilities.

  5. I had two procedures at Bosley. They involved the old "punch graft" method, and I had micro and mini grafts placed in my hairline. I didn't see any results, one way or the other.

After 11 procedures with different doctors, using the protocol I described, I just gave up. When I found this site, it gave me hope and the name of a well reviewed Dr (Siporin).

I won't know the results of my final surgery for at least 4 more months, but I'm confident I will finally see something besides pluggy looking hairs.

However, you are getting the surgery, and YOU have to choose the surgeon. As numerous posters have said on this site: "choose wisely, young man."

  6. I bought Propecia from a local pharmacy, but I decided to give 4RX.com a shot. I haven't received my order yet, but I'll let you know how the generic works.

The 4RX web site is impressive, and I looked up the manufacturers of their medication. It all looks good, but "the proof of the pudding..."

    Hang in there!

  7. I'm wondering what guides Pat to visit some clinics and not others. This not really a criticism, rather a question.

I know that a lot is written about Bosley, MHR, and so on, but I'm wondering if the negative comments can or cannot be validated by an in-depth, in-person review.

In any case, I am very appreciative of this forum, since it has successfully guided me to, in my opinion, an excellent hair transplant surgeon.

    Thanks!
