Elliott is an old "plug-and-pay" doctor, so I'd stay away. That's from personal experience, incidentally.

I had about 12, the first 10 of which were totally unsatisfactory (Straub and Bosley).

However, the last two were with the follicular unit method, while the others were with the dreaded "punch-plug" method.

I was particularly fortunate, since I have good scalp laxity and just enough donor hair to mask the old plugs.

The last surgery was with Dr. Siporin, who made my hairline look completely natural.

It's been a long journey, filled with expecatations and false promises of the first two doctors. Fortunately, the latest surgical methods saved my...scalp!

I bought the foam on e-Bay, but the seller said that the dates marked on the bottles are 4/08 and 6/08. Is the medication still active, or should I get a refund?

Stay away from Straub! He was one of the advocates of the plug graft method, and made promise he couldn't keep. He came out of the Bosley school, followed the same "get them in the chair" philosophy, and never delivered. Take it from my personal experience.

HK500 and I had very good results with Dr. Siporin. He is ethical, honest, and an excellent surgeon. What the hell; the consultation is free!

After you do your research, then feel comfortable you made the correct choice of doctors, you should ignore the negative comments that some of the posters make here. It's your head and your hair...eventually.

Maybe a "coping with self image: kind of psychological help and coping with self perception issues. I think we should do some internal transplantation, first; since there seem to be a lot more issues that precede and accompany the surgery, recovery, and self esteem issues.

Massage can actually loosen the scar and increase its eventual visibility. "Don't pick it, it will never heal!"

I think 10 days after is the usual recommendation.

Whether or not it has any regrowing properties, I don't know, but I do know it does wonders for dry scalp.

Cigarettes cut down the amount of healing oxygen to the grafts. I wouldn't risk it for at least a month.

Why pay all that money and gamble with the results?

The main thing that impressed my about my doctor, including his recommendation here, was the fact that he took a considerable amount of time explaining and evaluating the many aspects of the procedure. Even thoug he must go through the process innumerable times, he still showed his enthusiasm and dedication.

Look at the big picture: this is the "Hair Restoration Forum." That's what the topics should cover, the members should discuss, and the inevitable goal should be.

NG2 was a loose cannon who did not contribute anything to the good of the order. Let him go, let it go, get lives!!

Generally speaking, NG2 was a pain in the ass. If Pat found good reason to expel him, that is fine and dandy with me!

From a person who faced a similar predicament, I can tell you there is hope.

After eleven (11!!) procedures in the 80s and 90s, I gave up until I discovered the new techniques, in general, and this forum, in particular.

Follow the stories, research the doctors, but, most importantly: DON'T GIVE UP HOPE!!
