  1. Be aware that there are no doctors in Mass or Rhode Island performing total follicular unit transplants using high power microscopes. You will have to travel to.

It is misleading for doctors and clinics to use terms such as "micro follicular unit grafting" as this is not the same as "follicular unit surgery"

  2. A doctor should not perform hair transplant surgery on young men 30 and under. Some hair transplant doctors advertise that "you don't want to look bald like your fathers and grandfathers so keep up with your hair loss now"

You are never finshed with one or two procedures so if you "keep up" with your hair loss and keep having surgery you are in a negative position when your donor runs out. Also, If you keep having strip surgery, the risk of severe donor scaring increases. Not a very incouraging scenario.

  3. Are there any medical standards for performing hair transplant surgery? You have a qualified physician with credentials such as Dr. Bernstein MD who is a dermatologist surgeon performing this surgery. Now you want to lower the bar to let non medical people as Dr. Greco perform the same surgery?

It would be nice to see some of the doctors on this site comment on this topic.

  4. I think I am representative of the average person that enters the hair transplant spinning wheel. You think that one or two surgeries will get you want you you want to only realize that you need another and then another. The doctors do not tell you this up front and may even give you the impression that one surgery will do when they know you would need multiple surgeries. They do this because they know you would go to other doctors and the other doctor would tell you that you need more than one hair transplant. There are people posting here that admit to having 6 or more surgeries. Do you think these people would have gotten involved in this surgery if they knew they would have that many procedures, and maybe more to come if they knew what they would be getting into. Someone said that once you get involved with this surgery it never stops. You alsys need another.

  5. "I've even let my patients go swimming in the ocean by the third day for years and never had a problem."

I am puzzled at your comment about swimming after 3 days post op. I thought gentle shampooing and rinsing after several days post op was OK. However, swimming in the ocean after three days would seem to soften the scabs. People will also shampoo and rince after swimming to further soften the scabs. Some doctors have told me to nothing for a week after surgery including shampooing. It seems that every doctor has a different set of values concerning this?

  6. Sorry Dr. Beehner, I do not agree with you about golf not being a physical activity. Hitting on the driving range, walking 18 holes and swinging a driver is certainly a physical activity. Especially in the summer where temperatures rise to uncomfortable levels.

Why risk any negative occurances with irritation or infection after the surgery. Isn't it better to opt on the side of caution rather than chance?

  7. Greco is not a medical doctor. The hair transplant industry is not regulated and that is how Greco gets away with performing hair transplant surgery. Legally, he can not perform hair transplant surgery without a real doctor being on premisis.

Greco could not legally remove your tonsils. But he can cut into your head. If your going to have the surgery, at least use a real doctor.
