  1. mikey23, I just posted my story of Dr Katona on the general discussion page read it and by all means stay away from Medical Hair Restoration and Dr. Katona!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been loosing my hair since I was 22 years old. 11 years later and now the means to take care of the problem I have had two surgical procedures at Medical Hair Restoration over the past three years. At first I thought I just needed more grafts but now I realize that I have been taken advantage of. I can see now with the results of close to 3000 grafts that I will never have a full head of hair as they promised. Needles to say I have been seriously upset with the results given the cost and the expectation. I went to the Chicago branch of MHR where I was in my opinion flat out lied to by Dr. Katona. I was told that the donor site was more than enough to fulfill my expectations and that I would be happy after a few procedures. In reality all this snake wanted was my money to the tune of nearly $10,000.00. After finding information from Spencer Kobrens web site thebaldtruth.com as well as this one I have realized that I will never have enough donor hair to cover the extent of my hair loss. The sad part of this whole story is that if given the facts upfront I would have never gone through with it. Dr. Katona and the entire MHR group should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of a client that was obviously in desperate search of help. I have been hiding the loss of hair with products such as toppix and couvre. They barely do the job in combination with a daily pill of Propecia however I still wanted a full head of hair. Thinking the surgical approach was not going to ever work I then turned to the non surgical system as they call it. I went to the Hair club for men probably looking like an easy kill. I opened up to the consultant and showed how emotional I am regarding this problem and was again promised they would take care of this for me. I bought into the sales pitch and scheduled an appointment to have the procedure. I don't know where they get the photos of the men in the brochures but after having this thing on my head for a couple of days and seeing how awful it looks I have to assume that once again I am either the unluckiest person in the world or these companies are just flat out lying to the vulnerable customer who is desperate for results. I first went in to tell the consultant that I was extremely unhappy with the results and to convey my intent to no longer utilize their services. I explained the issues I had with the system as well as the way it was sold to me. In expressing my take on the situation I also made note of some of the outright lies I was told during the consultation and that they themselves are the reason I no longer wish to continue wearing the system. I was of course told that it looked good and that I was over reacting. This is where it gets really good, he then went on to tell me that the system I have is the one they start you out on and that it is made much more durable and thicker to get me used to wearing a hair piece. I asked him what he had on to which he replied "it was the gold package system that I would have to upgrade to later on if I wanted, however it costs more and it would require 1 or 2 visits a month to maintain". Needless to say I was very upset and asked why I was not aware of the various stages of systems and asked why I was sold the cheapest one they had if you consider $4,000 cheap. When I was behind closed doors in the room with the stylist she told me to make a very large stink about the whole situation and that only then would they consider returning some of my money. She even told me that she sees unhappy people all of the time and that they always complain that the claims made by the consultant are never true. UNREAL!!!! I then explained to the consultant Jason Taylor that I was upset with the fact that my head was shaved and the consent form put in front of me minutes prior to them doing so. He said it was policy to take care of those issues the day of and that it is common. Basically he had nothing to say except he was sorry I was unhappy and they would be willing to replace the hair system with a new one in the hopes I would like it better. Once I told him definitively no he said he would have to get the General Manager. The General Manager is a woman named Kristine Nehammer who came in and proceeded to tell me that I was not forced to come to their office and they didn't force me to agree to the procedure. She was extremely rude and once she realized I was only going to be happy with the refunding of my money became very belligerent. She told me that once I walked out of the office the day it was put on I forfeited all rights to a refund. I explained to her that I couldn't take it off as my head was shaven to which she replied no one made you sign the paper. At this point I was getting extremely livid with her and that I expect a full refund as I just had it put on days earlier. She said according to the signed agreement I would get nothing back. Again how can these people live with themselves especially the guys selling this garbage? They claim they are bald and know what I am going through!!! If that's the case how in the world can these guys sleep at night???? All this being said I now have an understanding of reality and the simple fact is the stress I have endured over the past three years has been a thousand times greater than the stress of just shaving my head and accepting the baldness. I am now in touch with a reputable cosmetic surgeon that can assist me in reducing this scar I now have on the back of my head so I can just get on with my life. I can't even begin to explain the desperation I found myself in here recently and although it is only my opinion the truth is with my experience almost everyone involved in the hair loss industry is a fake!!! Anyone thinking about going to either Medical Hair restoration or Hair club for men please DON'T!!!!! Search this site and if need be call someone from it and talk to them first. It's sad that I am learning all of this after the fact and only hope to prevent you from going through the absolute horror I have. Good Luck in your search for answers!!!
