Thanks guys!
These are the type of responses I was looking for. Wonder if anyone else cares to share.
I am just a little insecure about a girl running her hands over my head and wondering what the huge road bump was.
Seems like a great surgeon can help the case.
-
Can those of you with a strip scar describe what it feels like when you run your hands over it?
Is it a massive bump? Subtle? Very noticeable? Barely noticeable?
I realize it might be difficult, just trying to get a general idea.
I also realize that it may depend on the surgeon and individual scar.
Once again, just trying to get a general idea.

RC - Thanks for your reply.
However, I am looking for a specific post in which SPEX outlined very thoroughly the best way to get redness out. He had a list, as well as step-by-step instructions. Now I can't seem to locate it!

Bump...........

Spex,
I remember you had a detailed formula for eliminating redness. I believe called "Get the Red Out"
I can't seem to find it. I used the search function, maybe I am doing something wrong.
Any help?

Looks pretty impressive so far.
Have you considered buzzing your entire head to a 1 or 2 guard? I think it would look great while you let the rest of your hair grow in!
Thanks for keeping us posted, I haven't seen any transplants of this size being regularly updated.

For what its worth, I had a consultation with Dr. Umar and I thought he was great/helpful.
But these situations are kind of muddled. I find the truth is usually somewhere between the two stories.
-
Spanker,
I know what you mean, I don't mean to be disrespectful. I was re-reading my response and kept editing it to see if I could make it sound "nicer" but its sometimes difficult through an online forum.
I am grateful for all responses.
I just want to get to the bottom of this. I will contact Dr. Feller. Thank you!
Has anyone had FUE into strip BEFORE one year?
-
No the doctor was not recommended on this site, he is fairly reputable though from several websites I visit.
I realize scars may stretch post-one month. However, it has been well-documented on this website that the first month is the most important indicator. How you take care of the scar in the first month goes a long way to enhance the appearance of the scar.
I believe some doctors have reinforced this claim.
I understand the shockloss concern, but I don't know if this has much to do with the actual scar. Especially if you go to a good doctor.
My main concern would be the chances of the implanted grafts "taking."
-
I would think that after the first two weeks or so you would have a good idea of the scar. As far as its appearance and width.
If it is a rather thin scar, you would only need 300-400 grafts to "take" to mask it right?
I think the margin of error is much greater with a thin scar.
However, if the scar appears relatively thick, I think its best to wait.
-
Quite simple,
How soon can fue be inserted into a strip scar after a strip HT? I realize the scar can stretch for up to 3-4 months after the procedure, but I feel this can be prevented if proper care is given.
So what's the soonest possible time? I have emailed a doctor who said it can be done as soon as 4 weeks. What do you guys think? Doctors?

Hairthere,
Thanks for the link! Will definitely look into it.
-
Sparky,
That is a concern, but far enough away that it doesnt concern me much. Also, when hair turns gray its usually a salt/pepper look anyways, but I can see your point.
I think for a norwood 6, a low-density HT coupled with micropigmentation can allow for a great look.
-
Anyone know of or hear of any success stories with micropigmentation? I have seen several pictures on websites and they look impressive, but I would like to hear first hand from someone.
I think micropigmentation would be ideal for the following cases:
1: Black hair - eliminates the difficulty of matching hair color.
2: Fill in a strip scar, or small area, rather than a large completely bald area
I think micropigmentation, when used in conjunction with a HT, can be very effective.
Especially for those of us who do not want to keep our hair very long. This would help create that "shadow" effect. Perhaps a low-density HT combined with micropigmentation can achieve this look!
Thoughts on micropigmentation? Results?

OK guys, have you had any success with obtaining lines of credit, or loans, for cosmetic procedures?
I am trying to do an overseas procedure and my doctor does not offer any financing. However, I know in the states there are loans that are being given out for cosmetic purposes.
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on the topic? Thanks in advance.
-
Thanks to all replies, I really appreciate it. Currently I am awaiting feedback from H&W, Shapiro, and Feller regarding online consultations. I will let you know how it goes. I have decided that financing is a must, but if I am not an IDEAL candidate then I will pass on the procedure.
-
Dewayne - Thanks for the advice! I will use that as a solid plan B.
thanatopsis - What docs offer good online consultations? And I realize I might need more HTs later, but the first step is the biggest one i think.
-
thanatopsis - That sounds like a really good price. Another MAIN reason I am considering the HT right now is that I am quitting my job to take the next few months off, since I recently graduated I have not had time to myself for a while. I was going to take advantage of this downtime because I will probably never come across it again. Does this make any sense?
-
JW - THanks for the support, what part of Cali are you from? I was about to look into Zeiring, I guess I might as well not bother.
NG2GB - Thanks again, I am looking into getting these online consultations, not just waiting for responses.
-
NG2GB - My donor area is actually really thick, I realize it looks like its thinning in the pic, but I think its because I had just woken up and was wore a beanie to bed. I am pretty confident it will be fine. I didnt use clippers at all, I normally shave my head with a razor, but I was away on a trip for a few weeks so I simply didnt shave. The picture is how my hair looked after about three weeks.
thanatopsis - What is the price range for Feller, I am not against traveling. Im comfortable with my head shaved, its just I would much rather have hair now while im still young.
-
Thanks for the replies so far. I am not rushing into anything, I have been considering this for several months now. Financing is definitely an option.
Thanatopsis - Dr. Fellers website indicates that he is almost 8-9 dollars per graft, is this what you are familiar with?
notgoing2gobald - i appreciate your concerns, and your reply was not taken negatively. point well taken. let me assure you that I am not rushing into this.
Dewayne - I currently wear my hair shaved slick, I worked at Nordstroms and have been told it looked nice. However, my concern is that the field I am going into is Pharmaceutical Sales. They place a great deal of emphasis on a "clean-cut" business man look.
As for pictures, here is one.

I am 22 years old and I am already going bald, to the extent where I probably need 7,000-8,000 grafts. I am looking for a good doctor in the Southern California region. THe following are my concerns
Price - I know its well stated that price should not be much of an issue. But I am only 22, barely out of college, it is an important issue to me. I recently went to a consulation at a $2/graft Crown Cosmetic facility, it was terrible, unprofessional, needless to say I am staying away. However I am looking for something in the 3-4 dollars a graft range, or even lower if possible considering I am getting alot of grafts.
Scar - I currently shave my head, how visible is the scar going to be after the first couple of weeks? Do the other types of HTs (that dont leave scarring) cost THAT much more?
Quality - Obviously.
What doctors, or clinics should I visit?
Please please please help me.

Order of Application - Post Op
in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Posted
Ok, so as I continue in my research, it appears that there are a few topical treatments that most people suggest to apply post-op for quicker healing and better results.
My question is this. In what order, or what time of day, would you apply them? I supposed I am looking for some sort of schedule.
1. Rogaine
2. Aloe Vera with Vitamin E
3. Copper Peptide
4. Distilled Witch Hazel
I assume Rogaine first, twice a day. But the rest? Please help?
