  1. This may sound crazy but here is what I'm trying as a way to slow the loss of hair or to grow hair if the product works. I work for a compounding pharmacy and a pharmacist who is nothing short of being a genius. The company for which I work is currently very successful marketing a product for pain this pharmacist created, so I ask him to put some effort into developing something for hair loss. We have compounded some Avodart, Minoxidil, Progesterone and certain vitamins essential for creating healthy hair. Been on the product for 3 months and my hair is stronger, that which I have left, and I've noticed a lot of new fuzz. This may sound crazy to some of you but what I have to lose, my hair? My doc is okay with this, as being a topical; he does not feel I will get much of a side affect opposed to an oral medication that will go throughout the body. I'll keep everyone posted to any success. SM

  3. I work in a compounding pharmacy with what I would call a guru. He has put together a mixture of Avodart, Minoxdil with some porgestrone and certain vitamins. I know this is not proven, but could be being studied, so I thought, what the heck, all I've got to lose is hair, which is not a problem. I realize there could be unknown side effects but I'm willing to take this chance. Been on the product for 3 months and the hair I have left is healthier, and stronger, just by feeling. I also have more hair, fuzz at this point growning in. One must realize that Avodart depresses DHT by 90 % and Minxodil ony 40%. Just wanted to let everyone know you have one crazy out there trying something different. S. Moss

  5. Thanks Clive. I have been researching HT's for about one year now. But, the most difficult thing to determine is finding the right doc. I see this site has some for whom they give good marks but one must also develop a relationship with any doc to be able to properly communicate. This is important when seeing a doctor for all your other ill's as well. Here is a question that maybe you can answer. Once bald, is that hair gone forever? The reason I ask is because I have a pharmacist who works with me and wants to try and put Avodart in a topical cream. The reason is because of Avodart's high percentage to block DHT. This pharmacist has been very successful at developing topical creams. He currently takes drugs in their raw form (powder), and these drugs require a prescription, and mix them together to produce a topical pain product, which has been wildly successful. So, the two of us have kicked around the idea of using Avodart in a topical. Any thoughts or is this just a waste of money? Sam
  6. I'm new to this site and have a couple questions. I realize that this site is primarily used for HT conversations and people who have had HT, but with all the products for so called commercial use for hair re-growth I'd like to get some of this sites users opinions on these products. 1) Once you have a HT do you use products that claim hair growth? If so, which ones are most likely prescribed? 2) With all the commercials for products that claim to grow or slow the loss of hair which of these do you all feel work and which ones or bogus? 3) I was on one site which had a blog and all these folks were promoting Provillus. Many of these folks, in my opinion, are just searching for ways to stop hair lose, or the growth of hair without doing their homework and educate themselves to what is available, and what causes hair loss. This site or blog seemed to be promoting this product and 9 out of ten comments were positive for this product. Claims from some folks went as far as to say their hair had grown back, which I highly doubt. Because anyone who has researched hair loss would know that if a product was on the market, which grew hair, then all follicle challenged folks would be first in line. Anyway, this is my first post and just wanted to get some opinions from people on this site about these products, especially Provillus. Is this a waste of money?? Sam
