  1. Considering the proportions, do you think you might just as well condense the fora (forums)? I can see you wanting to keep the first three as is (questions for surgeons should be separate as should posts by surgeons and clinics). But the latter four, however, might be condensed into the first. Even "transplant experiences" could go into "post your own topics;" Many people seem to post their experiences in the main forum anyhow.

Just a thought, to simplify navigation. Either way, great job setting up, maintaining and monitoring the fora.

  3. What makes this site so unique and necessary, IMO, is that hair transplantation is, by its nature, usually a very private matter, nothing you're likely to discuss in public. So, even doctors (non-HT) don't have much information readily available. They can recommend a good heart or plastic surgeon, but ask them for a great HT doc and they give you a blank stare. And those people who have had HT's, particularly good ones, don't talk much about it -- that's kind of the point, right? You don't want anyone to know it's been done. Thus, this site is so necessary to inform those starved for information otherwise unavailable.

  4. Pat, the "I hate this site" topic lead to this post. When and how was this site and forum started? Did you start it, Pat? What is the story behind it all? This site has, literally, saved numerous people from tragedy. I am deeply indebted to you, Pat, and all who were instrumental in developing this site, as well as the m embers who post here.

  6. Since having my surgery a month ago, I have mostly worn some new hats that "my girlfriend got me for Christmas." Many of my friends don't know about my HT yet.

Last week, I had lunch with a friend and colleague who had brain surgery about 3 years ago. While being seated, we passed by a young man (about 25-35), totally bald and completely shaven, who was having lunch with what appeared to be his family. The back of his head had what looked like Bosley-grade scars: Three separate, long scars, each about 1/4-1/2 inch wide. I knew immediately what it was, and my heart went out for the guy. When we're seated, my friend (who happens to be a renowned medical malpractice lawyer) says, "I feel for that guy, because he had what I had." I said nothing.icon_smile.gif

  7. Go to a local business supply store (e.g., Kinko's) and have them take a digital picture of you and put it on a CD. It'll cost you $1.50. If you can't afford it, email me (tenorbarry@hotmail.com) your adress and I'll mail you a check.

  8. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest the possibility (just possibility) that Mahair is a fraud. Rooster might be a bit more diplomatic than I, but Mahair has been asked again and again to post a pic and has never as much as acknowledged such requests, let alone post a pic. He might be playing with our sympathies, all the while laughing his way to tears by our well-meaning responses.

    Waddya think?

  9. You're a "veteran" member if this forum (joined March 25, 2003) and even considering Bosley?

I've read your previous posts from back in April, and know your first surgery was by Bosley, but still . . . Can you post pics of the results of your first HT? You should be almost 10 months now. The only pics you posted so far were Awesome Results One month!!.

I, too, live in NYC but decided to travel for surgerysee this link. It's a lifelong commitment and it seems one should aim for the best surgeon available for your needs. I'd take geography out of the mix.
