  1. I’m 44yrs old. Had an HT with Hasson 14yrs ago. Very successful. Had been on finasteride 1mg/day for 10yrs. Then over the next 4 yrs started to reduce the dose, going down to 1mg per week for the last year. I had decently thick hair and no noticeable loss of hair until 6mths ago when I noticed thinning. This progressed for the next few mths. About 4mths ago I started back to 1mg/day. So far no improvement. If I continue at this dose, will I likely get back the lost hair I had approx 8-12mths ago or is that now lost having effectively “stopped” the finasteride?
  2. Thanks Robert, do appreciate the advice. With what you've mentioned about switching regimes, It triggered me to remember one other "variable" that may be an issue, let me know what you think. About December last year I switched from Proscar to Avodart (1/day). I was on Avodart through till May of this year (6 months), then I had the major shed which was more likely attributed to the stopping of Minox in Dec rather than the Avodart?. Obviously being a rookie I freaked, went back on the Minox as per my previous e-mail, but also immediately switched back from Avodart to Proscar. With Avodart's long half life could it be just now fully exiting my system and thus causing an issue?, let me know your thoughts here. Obviously changing in and out of regimes is not good, especially as I look back, and knee jerk reactions are never helpful, so I'm thinking I'll do as you've mentioned and stay on the Proscar/Minox and hope for a turnaround and get some stability back..... Anyway, look forward to your thoughts on the Avodart to Proscar switch as a potential issue. Best Regards TJD
  3. Appreciate your time and responses. Had an HT 14 mths ago. I have also been on Propecia 1.25mg/day religiously for 15mths. Was on Minox for 3 month right after the HT, stopped and then had a major shed 2 months later or 8 mths ago (my bad). Immediately started back on Minox 5% twice daily (also religiously) since and this stopped the shed and even helped get me back to pre shed. However about 2 weeks ago I started to have another major shed in the crown and mid scalp region, which is still on-going. The thinning is very noticable and immediate. After initially starting the Propecia and re-using the Minox I got great results, however with this latest shed, It appears I have lost all the gains since originally starting on them 15 mths ago. Are cyclical sheds normal (even heavy onces such as this?). I realize hair has a normal 3 stage cycle, but this is a large "jump ship" at one time, as opposed to normal 10% resting phase..... Would the Propecia and Minox possibly place the new hairs into a "same" cycle phase, whereby they'd all rest at the same time? Can I expect this phase to pass soon?, gain the hairs back in approx 2-3 mths? (I'm maintaining the Propecia/Minox schedule), and then perhaps have to continue to deal with these same shed cycles every 8 or so months? Any feedback or personal experiance would be appreciated.
