  1. Just for the record I did not threaten or accuse anyone , just pointed out the difference between what was told and what was SOLD . And the defects and problems that resulted . I guess they don't like that. Thanks to everyone for their concern and advise.

    Hair piece?

Hello I am looking for a solution to a recent hair transplant procedure which has scarred me up in the front hairline and divoted throughout my front scalp .Unfortunately the poorly trained Dr. left me with a hairline which is only three fingers away from where my eyebrows are.Are there any systems that cover that far?I would also need it to cover back to the crown as I have lost hair to that point since the procedure ,in only two months I might add ,due to shock loss from his incompetence.Do not get a transplant unless you do a ton of research or you may end up the next victim so don't think it could'nt happen to you. 4. I had noticed that I was thinner in the front area than the rest of my head and was starting to be able to see my scalp throgh my hair especialy after a shower and had some reseccion in my left temple I had heard about Rogaine from others and was under the impression that these products did'nt work ,so I though I would cut to the chase and do something so I would'nt have to worry about loosing my hair. The consultant empithized with me and said that I may have already lost 50% and that this would take care of it. So he called the Dr. in who said I needed 2500 grafts to rectify the situation.(which I know after seeing a recommended Dr. was absurd to put into such a small area and that is why I am loosing hair on the rest of my head and suffered such significant shock loss in that area.)My goal was full hair as I had written on my consult sheet and bolster my existing hair which I now have very little of .I guess when the Dr. recommended this I was in and wanted to do what was best. I was horrified when the tech said I did'nt need a transplant half way through the surgery but figured at the time what did she know ,the Dr. had seen me and I trusted in doctors .It haunted me shortly after as it does now. The nurse saw me about the grafts and said they were up in that area because "I did'nt want to look like a golf ball did I."When I asked why they all did'nt look like that I got a blank stare. I now beleive it was poorly trimmed grafts that were the problem and this is why the area looks like a golfball to a lesser extent. I also beleive this is why I healed so slow. I was told just before surgery by the Dr.there was something called shock loss which does'nt happen that often is minimal and grows back I am tormented by this deception that was done to me. The reason I am so messed up is the fact that I am losing the rest of my hair that was not worked on from the point were they stopped all the way back to my crown even more so than the area they worked on before the surgery.[This message was edited by Mahair on July 27, 2003 at 11:37 AM.] [This message was edited by Mahair on July 27, 2003 at 12:18 PM.] [This message was edited by Mahair on July 27, 2003 at 04:41 PM.]
  5. I know there is no way to judge the results as far as the amout of hair I gain or loose goes but it is unfortunate that I went forward as I had a decent amount of hair to begin with and even one of the techs doing the transplant said I did'nt even need a transplant. The unfortunate thing is that I already have asthetic issues with the skin as far as pitting and bumpiness where the hairline was lowered and a fibroid patch just below were the forelock area was lowered which I was told by the Dr.. would resolve itself and scarring to the scalp area where the grafts were placed . I am now acutely aware that I have been botched as I now remember that after surgery I thought the grafts were coming out because skin was protruting from the graft sites which was the result of poor trimming. Is there a remedy to being a transplant victim ? I am getting more anxious and need to find a way to cope . I was wondering if I have any recourse at all as I signed a waiver just prior to surgery . Also I have list of the mistruths and deceptions that were presented to me during the consult which I WAS going to convey to their lawyer. I have also had to stop the propecia as it is not agreeing with me and am thinking of gettig a hairpiece to hide the unsitely mess below my former hairline I just dont know if they go that low.Can I get justice or will I be in misery for whatever life I have left ?
  6. As a matter of fact the consultant told me it does'nt occur here at all because the Dr.was so careful. Minutes before the surgery the Dr. did mention that some people get something called "shock"and loose a few hairs but it does'nt occur often and will grow back, that was minutes before the operation according to my girlfreind and I did'nt understand as I was on valium. If I knew then what I know now.
  7. I have cannot beleive what is happening to me.I am Two months out from a transplant which I got at MHR and it has destroyed me to the point that I can not describe. From the third day I had swelling to the face that my eyes were almost shut and black eyes for over two weeks . After that I noticed the bumps that were on my head and temples that are still not fully gone.My hairline has been lowered to three fingers above my eyebrows. The hair that I had has mostly disappeared due to shock loss .now I am loosing hair on the rest of the top of my head . I was only a 3 on the scale with a receeded temple on the left side and thinning to the front area were they put 2000 + grafts . I dont know why I went along with this now I guess because I felt that it would be preventative and was assured this would be a one shot deal and he seemed like a concerned Dr.There is nothing I can do now and the Dr. denied the problems or said I was a slow healer . He now admits that I am thinner in the midscalp and back after I took him to task on HIS pre op photos which were taked to show that I was developing a bridge around the frontal island. He now refuses to discuss anything more with me and is saying it is due to my progression or stress and not related . I beleive it has been shocked by the surgery I had thick hair everywere but the front I am so distraught I can barely function . Their laywer called me to instruct me not to call the consultant or the doctor about the problem and that the Dr. stated to him that the surgery is healed and I should get great results and to wait a year. But he would have another doctor from MHR look at me in a months time .The lawyer wants to talk to me on Monday to hear my complaints I dont know what to do about any of this can anyone advise a course of action .

  9. I have recently had a transplant 2 months ago in the frontal part of my scalp and have thinned out in that area were the grphs were placed. I am now loosing alot of hair in the mid scalp area . Has the hair transplant accelerated my balding patern or is this shock loss. Can this happen ?

  11. I am actually still recovering from a transplant from that company. It has been very disturbing to me to find out that I may have been overcharged and botched up as well.I was impressed with the Dr. and went forward only to have several issues including a last minute hairline drawn which was much lower than we had discussed during the initial consult, bumpiness , redness , swelling , black eyes ,surgical loss now shock loss to the midscalp area and depression over this . I can only now try to hold my life together and pray the results are'nt too bad and that I can live with them or still function with any enthusiasm. I also asked about microscopes prior and was told they were microdisected. However after surgery I was told that microscopes were overkill and that his staff can work better without them and I should get great results. Two months later I am a wreck and seeing a Phd.The funny thing is the main concern I had was "any complications?" The answer "There are none."
  12. I am in the Boston area and was thinking of seeing Dr Leonard in Newton to get his opinion . I am hoping my worse fears are not real.I have a suspicion that I have been botched up pretty good every thing about this is a horror show so far and I guess there is no way to undo a bad transplant at least I wish I did not do the temples and could hide it better hanging in is getting tough .
  13. Arfy ,thanks for the reply,I checked, they were not dissected with a microscope and the explanation was that the additional magnification was not nessesary I was told they were microdisected before I went ahead ,I hope I am not permenently scarred I have had a rough couple of weeks and am in despare over what I have done to myself, my eyes are still slightly black too.Is there anything that can be done at this point ?
  14. I had the stitches removed from the donor area yesterday. I told the doctor that I was concerned with the bumps on my temples and was told that it was part of the normal healing process and that they should settle down. Has anyone had bumpy transplants that settled down ? Should I beleive this ? After reading through the forum I am under the impression that redness and swelling are the common side effects other than shock loss which I have already had some of. Should I compromise the trust of this doctor and see another? I know it has only been two weeks but is there such a thing as a time frame for bumps?

  16. Is the surface area of the recipient area usually bumpy after surgery or smooth like normal skin . I am concerned with this as mine is similar to bad acne . I am 12 days post surgery and am worried this a problem. I am going to see the doctor to get the stitches out tomorrow and need to know as to ask the apropriate questions. What are any of your observations as to the skin texture post-op.I hope this is temporary but the bumps feel hard and are on top of the raised red area of the recipient site .I am also mad at myself for not asking more questions pre -surgery but was told i was getting micro dissected follecular units but did not push enough to insist on seeing a microscope. also I was at most a NW 3-4 and was hoping thicken the hair I had I now understand I may have just traded it in for scarred skin and the same amount of hairs or less.Any info would be apreciated this may be my chance to get some peice of mind. Thanks

  18. Thanks All ,for the sincere advise. bverotti: I will have to set up for picturesas I have used the computer very little up to this point but am glad I resorted to it during this situation. Jim:I called my doctor ,he will see me early next week when the stitches come out. I will not touch anything. Arfy:I do hope this is normal healing process and the bumps level out substancially . What I received were individual folecular units grafts (2500)I am not sure a microscope was used although I was told they were not mini-grafts.As far as corrective surgery goes I hope not I have rewarded myself enough . I am 39 and had lost 50% of the hair on the top of my head with an island of more to the front and recession in the temples. As far as the doctor I would rather not tell tales out of school just yet as I am hoping that your assessments are correct and eating and sleeping sounds like good advice also. I am grateful for the assistance.
  19. Hello, I have recently undergone a hair transplant and am recovering from the side effects of it swelling and black eyes . The swelling is all gone but my eyes are still blackened. It is day 9 there are no more scabs . What concerns me now is the temple area has raised bumps where the hairs were inserted and irregular texture they are very obvious and not lend to a good look if everything else goes ok . is time of the essence here as I may be able to pluck them out or is this normal at this stage as this area has softer skin and I should wait.

  21. Thank you all for your repies, I am glad I posted I was feeling very alone in all of this and needed the perspective . Joe , I am greatful for you sharing your experience with me it is much the same with a great outcome and I have some piece of mind from it.Thanks. The type of transplant was an individual follicular unit/graft from a donor strip (2500) The temples do look alittle like mini cobblestones.I am hopeful this wont be a disaster and will try to get some pictures . Thanks Guys I feel better,
  22. Hello ,I recently found this forum and I am now more concerned about the hair transplant I just got.I wonder if it was the thing to do I had lost about 50% of my hair on top and it was taking me more time to comb it to look presentable in the morning for work and I had been thinking that the advantage of having hair outweighed the risk of having it done as I was told by a freind it was getting thin and I was having bad hair days. I had gone to Bosley a few months ago and was never seen due to a scheduling problem but on the way down the elevator a women said "they do wonderful things up there" so I guess I felt it was standard procedure for people to go to a clinic and come out whole again. So the week before last I took another day off to get a consult and low and behold there was an opening and the Doctor was in besides so I felt like it was my good fortune to have the opertunity to have this done within a week so I went forward at the nearest oppertunity. I was very exited to do this for myself and was hoping noone would know just think something was different .Well the operation went well I suppose and I felt good about it and the next day i felt great I ate like a horse layed in bed and was waiting to get back to business . When I woke up the next day my head was like a balloon and my eyes were dark red I called in to see whats up and was told that it was the anesthetic and this rarely happens well my luck. I was still glad I did it and things should get better . well they did'nt I was icing sitting up try to sleep elevated and getting distressed so I started getting familiar with the computer to find out just what went wrong now I think I have messed myself up and wish I never had such low esteem as to not like the way I was looking with less hair. My head is red my eyes are black and my temples are all bumpy and I feel worse than ever especially after reading some of the things posted here will things normalize or will I just have to accept that I messed up and deal with this .
