  1. I've been on Propecia for seven years now. I'm 40 years old. I had the best regrowth at 12 months of use, that was the peak, then over the next few years seem to have lost much of the regrowth, but still I have more hair than I had when I started. It seems that I lost most of the regrowth when I used Rogaine for six months with the propecia -- big mistake.

  2. I've been using the lasercomb for two years now. After only two weeks of use, I noticed many very fine hairs in my temples started to grow thicker and longer. However, after two years, they didn't really grow into anything that made much of a difference. Still, it makes me believe that the lasercomb really does do something...

  3. Hi,

I've been using the Lasercomb for well over a year now. I'd say that it does indeed thicken some vellous hairs, especially in the front hairline. I didn't notice any real improvement in the crown, but after only a few weeks of use I noticed some very fine vellous hairs in my hairline started growing longer, thicker, and darker. I can't say if the lasercomb stops further hairloss, because I have been on propecia for six years and that has stopped it. I think the lasercomb does work a bit, but it is not the cure we have all been wiaiting for that will grow back all your hair. The comb cost me $500 (for a reconditioned one) which is less than what I spent on Rogaine years ago (and Rogaine SPED UP my hairloss!) Hope that helps.

  4. Hmmm, sounds like what I'm going through right now. I had my HT 4 1/2 months ago - 1300 in the crown, and 200 extras in the front. Right at 3 months the hairs in the front started popping out, but it wasn't until about 4 months that I started to see anything in the crown. I can feel some kind of stubble back there, but it is growing painfully slowly. I guess we have to be patient, right? Good luck to you.

  5. Hi guys,

I've been on Propecia for five and a half years. After a week or so of use, I too noticed a marked decrease in libido. I'm not saying I couldn't get it up, just that I was not nearly as horny as I was prior to starting Propecia. Also, my "loads" were much smaller than before. However, since the drug worked well and stopped my hairloss, I was willing to keep using it and sacrifice some horniness. I'd rather be less horny and have hair, than be a bald old horny pervert who can't get laid (heh heh)

I'd say that after about a year of use, my libido started to return to normal. Five years later, it is about how it used to be, but my "loads" are still smaller than pre-Propecia, although it still feels just the same.

All in all, I'm happy with Propecia -- it's the only thing that really works for me.

  6. hmmm, hard to say. I was using some cover=up sprays and stuff on my thinning spot too, worked really well, but it semed like I'd have to use more concealer to do the job over time, leading me to believe that the concealers were killing hairs! I only used the concealers once a week, or when I'd go out on the town. That's why I decided to get a HT, I want to not have to use concealers any more.

  7. I am two months post-op and still wearing bandanas and hats to cover up the surgery... You;ve got to be prepared for "shock loss" that is, the hair that you already had in the recipient area falling out after the surgery making you look worse than you did prior to the surgery... also, the redness can (and did in my case) last for a good long while, not to mention zits, itching, and bumps, and of course the scabbing. Basicly, the recipient area of scalp is very sensitive and tender and...gulp... BALD... after the surgery and it can take a few months or more before it is back to normal. Be prepared to hibernate for a while, my friend.

  8. I agree with the first responder -- you should try using the Propecia only for a few months. I had similar results when i used just Rogaine many years ago -- whereever I applied it, the hair fell out rapidly making me balder than ever. I hung in there for a year, thinking maybe the shedding was a good sign, as some people claim, but it was a mistake -- the hair I lost while on Rogaine didn't grow back. However, with Propecia I have had great results -- I have the same amount of hair, even some extra actually, than when I first started it five years ago.

The problem with starting out with more than one treatment, is that you don't know which one is working or not working. I'm not a doc either but I bet it's the Rogaine that's making your hair fall out.

  9. I first tried rogaine way back when it was 2% and prescription only. I used it for a year, and whereever I applied it, the hair thinned out. I finally quit using it after one year, and I lost more hair in that year than ever before. After using Propecia for 21/2 years, I tried rogaine 5% (but only applied it at night) hoping that the propecia would make the Rogaine work, but nope -- I lost all my new Propecia hairs in six months.

When I started Propecia, I took photos of my hairline and crown once a month, and it was the fourth month when my crown started to fill in.

  10. I've been on Propecia for five and a half years. It took 3 months to kick in and start growing some hair, and I had the best regrowth at 12 months. Then it stabalized and stayed the same for another year and a half, at which time I started using Rogaine along with it -- big mistake! After six months of Rogaine, I lost most of the hair that I had regrown with Propecia. I quit the Rogaine, but unfortunately not much of the hair I lost came back. However, the Propecia has maintained the hair I have ever since. After five and a half years, I have the same amount of hair as I did when I first started it, although I have some extra hair in the front hairline.

  11. You should take photos of your hairline and crown every month or so while on Propecia, then you will be able to tell for sure if it works for you or not. I saw results after 4 months of use, and have been using it for 5 years. I still have all the hair I had five years ago - it' stopped the hsirloss!!! If it doesn't work for you after six months- one year, then you should probably quit taking it.

  12. I've been on Propecia for 5 1/2 years. I 've been taking photos of my crown for the whole time, and at one year I saw the best of the results-- lots of hair regrown in the crown, and the front hairline standing firm. After five yearw, much of the new regrowth in the crown is gone, and it looks just like it did five years ago (most of the4 regrown hairs fell out when I gave rogaine a six month lease of terror, big mistake!!!) and the front still looks good as it did five yeras ago, actually alot stronger. propecia works, rogainge is poison!!!
