  1. Well the "safe zone" for woman from what I read is somewhat controversial, but I come from a family where none of the woman have had a problem with hair loss. So assuming that I will not eventually loose it, the finer hairs are better for the hairline.
  2. Now I know that many people think that nape hair (via fue) should not be used because it is outside the safe zone, but what about females who have little to no thinning and just need some fine hairs for hairline work? I know that fue has a lower yield and the nape hairs are more delicate, but couldn't someone with a large supply be able to get a good result? I have already seen Dr. Umar's posts, but are there any other examples of nape hair fue on the hairline?
  3. This man had a transplant and had very poor yield, only one side grew in. I dunno who he went to or how this happened. I was curious to know myself, I just read it on the hair tell forum. But according to some electrologists on there they regularly remove transplanted hair. I think that the "blend" electrolysis would probably yield the best result as this is easier on the skin with a better kill rate than the thermolysis. Anyhow, thanks for the additional information .
  4. Hi, Just a general question. I have never had a hair transplant but I have seen many pictures of revisions of old transplants and some of these patients end up with scars after the transplanted hair is surgically removed. Now can't these hairs be taken out by other methods such as laser hair removal or electrolysis? I had read on-line about a man who had this done (didn't see any pictures). I don't know if he had plugs or grafts. But with grafts assuming that they will act and look exactly like the rest of your hair, shouldn't other methods of hair removal be possible?
  5. Hi all, I was wondering how dense an HT can be? As in how many hairs per square centimeter? Those with thicker hair can obviously get away with needing less grafts, but what about the ones with thinner hair (as in the shaft itself is thinner)? Are there any studies or a cutoff as to what density can be acheived with a hair transplant?
  6. Yes, if any of the doctors could explain how they differentiate that would be most helpful.
  7. Hi all, Now if one was to go to a top doc for their HT and there are no depressions or bumps, what would be the difference between the hair that was transplanted and your natural hair? I know that the transplanted hair can be a little thicker because it's from the back of your head but I wanna know if there is anything else that would set it apart, and how a top doc would be able to tell the two apart? Also is there any limitations on transplanted hair (assuming you will not be balding and there is enough donor hair)? Is there anything that I can't do with the transplanted hair that I would be able to do with the native hair?

  9. Hi all, I just recently called the office of Dr. Alexander to ask some questions about his FUE procedure. One of his female tech's answered the phone. She said that he has been doing hair transplants for five years and that he has been doing FUE for the same amount of time. She also said she has been a tech for two years, but could not remember the correct size of the punches (originally she said .07mm). Her answer to most of my questions were "yep", "nope" and "sure". So I didn't get too much info out of her. Even though I was planning on seeing him for a consult, talking with this woman (who is a tech!) makes me nervous. But I have seen a few hairline pictures so I know Dr. Alexander is a highly skilled surgeon. I just want to know if anyone reading this has had an FUE with Dr. Alexander and if they can share their results or links to pictures. Thanx!

  11. Yes. I have not had a consult so it may be as low as 100 grafts. I guess my concern with the strip procedure is that there may not be enough thinner/whispy hairs that can be taken from the back of my head. Can a few donor hairs be extracted from areas that grow thinner hair using FUE and what percentage of those hairs actually end up growing? I guess what I'm asking is, is it harder to extract and implant finer hairs?
  12. Thanks for the replies. I was also wondering where the the donor hairs from the FUE could be taken from? I have read through some threads where posters have discussed using FUE in conjunction with the strip in order to get the whispy hairs for the hairline.
  13. Hi all, Yes I'm sure that many people have already asked this questin but I am having problems finding the information I need. Who are the current recommended surgions who do FUE procedures? I do not mean megasessions, but procedures for less than 300 graphs. I want some hairline work, and though I don't want to go to a certein surgion just based of the fact that they do FUE, the fact that it is less invasive is very attractive. On the other hand I have read that with the right surgion the donor scar will be so faint that it will not even be noticable and some of the posters have said that the extra cost of an FUE is not even worth it. I was also thinking that with the smaller number of graphs needed the strip would also be smaller and this may mean better/ quicker healing. But I have just begun researching so I do not know all the specifics. So for those of you out there who have had smaller HT sessions what is your opinion on this topic? Is FUE really a better choice for those who need a small number of graphs? What are the pros/cons? Are there any surgions who get consistantly good results with FUE?
  14. Thanks for your post. I was wondering, Please grow, if you had any shock loss, and if this was temporary or permanant and also how much of the implanted hairs actually grew in? I was also wondering judging by your post if it's mostly the techs that do the implanting? If anyone else has any additional comments or can provide information to how much hair can be expected to grow in on a female who does not have any familial hair loss and has healthy hair and scalp, that would be appreciated.
  15. Hi all. I have read through many threads and am considering going to Dr. Shapiro. I am a female and this will be a very small procedure (probably less than 200 graphs) to repair my hairline after electrolysis. My main concern is shock loss and the "take" so to speak of the graphs. From what I have read this depends mostly on the skill of the surgion. So my questions are for those of you who have had a procedure with Dr. Shapiro, Which of the two doctors (Ron or Paul) is more experienced and/or has more experience with female hairlines? does he do most of the implanting? Is there any way to request that he do all of the implanting? How available is he to answer questions after the procedure? This is a small procedure so I want to make sure that I go somewhere where they take their time with me and don't rush through my procedure. I can live without having a HT but judging by my research I know that now a day the benefits can outweigh the risks. So if any of you can give me some insight by sharing your experiences (good and bad), I would be most grateful. Thanks
  16. I was looking at the interview section on your website and was wondering why Dr. Feller wasn't included? I know that he has a very good reputation. There seems to be a profile for all of the other top surgions. Anyhow........just morbid curiosity.

  18. Hi I was wondering what where the chances of shock loss if you wanted to place grafts withing the hairline (grafts would be surrounded by pre-exisiting hair). What can minimize this from happening and is this shock loss permanant? also is it always necessary shave the area that will be receiving the new grafts?

  20. also what is Dr. Shapiro's first name? There seems to be more than one doing hair transplant procedures.
  21. What are the best surgions for female hairline work? I keep hearing about Dr. Feller, Dr. Bernstein, Dr. Hasson and Dr. Shapiro. I am looking to get less than 200 graphs on the hairline. Does anyone have any recommendations/experiences/pics they would be willing to share? I have read through many of the posts but can't seem to find that much information for the female hairline. I really want it to look as natural as possible so if there are any woman out there who have any information they could give, it would be a great help to me. Thanks

  23. Hi all. Unlike many of you I do not have hair loss due to my genetics. I had gone to a very inexperienced electrologist to have a few hairs at my hairline removed and she ended up removing more than what was expected. Anyhow, it's a year later and some of the hairs have grown back but the sides of my hairline are uneven. I tried correcting it with having another electrologist take out a few hairs but the result is still not very natural. I was wondering if doing a transplant surgery, with say less than 50 grafts (yeah I know I will definitely not need more hair than that) would be feasable and if I would still get good results. What I mean to ask is what percentage of the transplanted hair actually ends up growing? Also can very fine hairs be transplanted at the hairline and what are the chances of those being successful? I am also worried about scarring. How long does the scar take to heal and will it be noticable if I put my hair up? I know that this may seem silly and perhaps a little vain to those of you struggling with major hair loss but any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. thanx
