I just read the post about the gentleman with the dreadlocks and I certainly hope I do not get the feedback from everyone that he received. With that said, I will share my experience.
I had my hair transplant just yesterday and my follow-up appointment today. I've read these forums for a while but I have never posted anything because I have had nothing to contribute or really had any questions that I could not have answered by just doing a simple search.
I know some of you will be skeptical about me being some sort of representative or Dr.Bauman himself so I will include my pictures, and if anyone wants, they can pm me and I will give them my phone number. This is a place to share experiences with our surgeons so that is what I am doing.
Now about my experience... From the first phone call I made to Dr. Baumans a month and a half ago to walking out the door for my follow-up today, I can honestly say I have zero complaints. I was very nervous about doing this and even more skeptical after reading some negative reviews here on this forum. However, my father is a general contractor and he is one of the most genuine, kind, soft-hearted guys I know and does his absolute best for every customer and still gets complaints. So, I know that there are always more than one side to each story.
Moving on... I had several questions over the past month and Tara from Dr. Bauman's office was absolutely awesome. She always responded the same day and was wonderful. When the day arrived (yesterday), Dr. Baumans office arranged a shuttle for me to be picked up in and I was at their office by 7:30 am. They sit me down under a laser therapy lamp for about 15 minutes and then I did the scalp wash. I met Dr. Bauman after that for the first time (in person) and he really was a genuinely nice guy. He LISTENED to every question and concern I had and was really good at explaining things to me. We went over my goals and expectations and then he drew the hairline on that we both agreed on and took some photos (which I will share) and then I went into the operating room.
In the operating room was 3 technicians (that I'm aware of). I was a little out of it at that point. They began numbing my head and shaving down the hair where my donor strip was. Once everything was numb, Dr.Bauman came in and began cutting and removing the donor strip. While all this was going on, everyone was extremely friendly and constantly asked me if I needed anything or if I was comfortable etc. They really did seem to care. They put in "The Office" for me and we probably watched 15 episodes!
Once Dr.Bauman removed the strip, he then sutured it up while the techs disected the grafts. Once it was stitched up Dr.Bauman begain making the incisions for my implanted hairs. At this point I fell asleep and woke up just in time for lunch. After lunch two-three of his technicians placed the grafts in. They were all very friendly and again, I was very happy with the way everything went. Once this was all finished (around 5:00 pm). They went over all of my instructions in detail and gave me all of my medications and set the appointment for me to come in today for my follow up appointment. They had me shuttled back to my hotel and Dr.Bauman even called me last night about 8:30 pm to check on me.
So, my overall experience was above and beyond what I expected. The negative criticism from this site was an issue with me and to be completely honest, that is why I am posting my experience today. While I do not know the details to the complaints, I think its only fair that I share my experience and I would recommend Dr.Baumans office to anyone and everyone that is interested in having the procedure done.
Now, about me:
I'm 28 years old
receding hairline with thinning hair in my crown
I had 2536 grafts implanted and I had the linear procedure
If anyone doubts this, or has any questions about my experience, please feel free to pm me and I can call you or you can call me. I have no problem with that.
Joe
