Pity about the slipped disc, but at least you'll look cool while lying flat on your back!

The difference in hair colour/texture around your temples seems to be less noticeable this month, so I imagine the same will happen with your scar hair.

I must say I am curious that no one has yet asked you straight up whether you've had an HT, but I wonder if that has something to do with the relatively gradual nature of the change.

Anyway, well done again. I am coming up fast behind you. 3.5 months and just beginning to sprout!

Great pictures. You look like you're healing really well, with little redness. That residual bruising will soon disappear. The donor area looks clean and healthy too.

I used nanogen within about three weeks of my procedure on buzzed down hair.

Did it look brilliant? No.

But did it stop people noticing/asking questions? Yes.

You might try Bumble & Bumble Gentle Shampoo. Personally, I use Revita as my main shampoo and Nizoral only occasionally.

Ok folks - now at 10 weeks and have updated my blog again. As the passing police officer might say, "move along now, nothing to see here". Unless you fancy indulging me and noticing some hairs growing in the recipient area that are only slightly larger than quarks.

But one other observation: recommending that you try out meds before looking into a transplant is a mark of a good doc.

Hi mgem. Just wanted to give you a few words of encouragement.

Of course you will be nervous, but you should also feel proud of yourself for making a big decision which will have a positive effect on your life. I remember thinking several times when sitting in the chair "I can't believe I've actually done it!"

You will also feel a bit weird generally, but that will have just as much to do jetlag and being in a different culture for a few days. Possibly also a touch of loneliness if you are not being accompanied by your wife.

He's a great doc - you'll be fine and well looked after. It seems like only yesterday for me but in fact it was 9 weeks ago. Like me, you will very soon be 9 weeks down the line offering words of encouragement to others facing the same journey. Take a deep breath - nearly there now.

I'm actually in the exact same position as you. I definitely have small hairs coming through in the recipient area - but only on one side at the moment - and in a hairline area that was previously completely bald. Ages to go yet though ... but something is definitely happening ...

Eman - sorry if you've dealt with this elsewhere ... was your scar noticeable on a #2 clip after six months?

Maxxy and mmhce are right - in most cases, the newly transplanted hairs will shed. A typical time frame is 2-4 weeks but I have had some hanging on (I'd guess about 30) and I'm now at nearly two months post-op.

Mike - having read the original post (and having been thinking since about your conundrum) I'm really glad you've figured it out. Best of luck for the future.

Most people on the forum who have spent time researching the issue will have developed a top five or ten and, naturally enough, there is sometimes a tendency for people to be vocally supportive of their own chosen surgeon.

There are also well established names and some real up-and-coming stars.

But I'm not sure that there is a clear "Tiger Woods" leader. It's good for competition that there isn't - it keep all the good docs on their toes.
