Hi Folks,
I use both Dermmatch and Toppik. Typically Dermmatch right after showering, let it dry followed by Toppik.
I have noticed Toppik has gone down in price, however Dermmatch has slowly but surely gotten more expensive.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a Dermmatch alternative that is a bit more cost effective?
Appreciate the help

6 months is just insanity. after 10 days your hairs are locked into place. I'm not doc, however once you see your scalp has healed what would be the matter? usually after about 3 weeks or so I slowly but surely got back into my routine...

It is surprising that the public is still so clueless about HT surgery. I suppose it's because so many of us are secretive about it. So in that regard I do respect this guy for going public with it. At the same time I think it's very deceptive to use concealer and not be upfront about that...
Here's the video of him "coming out"....
Thanks for posting the video man...
I definitely see the toppik being used. I wouldnt be surprised if this is a dermmatch/toppik combo...
While they did a good job of styling it to look natural, getting it to look this way day in and day out is a serious pain in the ass, and for him to pass this result off as a pure transplant imo is a serious ethical no no
-
I agree, how long after the HT did he start to use them? I had waited a good month before using concealers...
-
good luck man, you are in good hands with Dr Feller
-
wow, I agree why is this not all over the news?
is there any mention of it healing scars as well?

as much as hairloss sux, he is a prince... I am sure there are plenty of women in line waiting or him

ok perhaps movies was not the best example, however even older folks such as my grand parents and their friends have stated more people my age are balding than when they were my age...

There's a forum called immortalhair that touches thoroughly on this topic and has the research to back up these claims..Yes diet plays a big part in MPB if people want to believe it or not on this forum. The perfect diet can eliminate MPB. But that's easier said than done. Our diet can have a major impact on our genetic predisposition to MPB. Foods can increase inflammation, oxidative stress, free radicals, insulin levels, increase dht or estrogen in the body. The right foods can also do the opposite.
I mentioned this before but Japan is the healthiest nation in the world and also experiences the lowest MPB rate.. What is funny is that MPB increased in their country though after WW2 when the western diet was introduced to them.
The western diet is definitely one of the worst things for those vulnerable to MPB..Even cleaning up your diet a little would help.
I am a believer that all the poisons we are exposed ot daily between the air, food water... is an accelerant in our mpb. Meaning we were still destined for it, only at a later time...
That being said, once the damage is done, I do not believe changing a diet will stop mpb, because it was going to happen anyway, it just happened a lot sooner...
With regard to claims that baldness has always been around, yes it has however much later in peoples lives.
Heck look at old movies of people in the 40's, 50's, 60's... Not that many people were going bald under the age of 30... today I see a significant percentge of people under 30 suffering from mpb to some degree

So I called Aderans the other day as they are offering the testing near me..
the first part involved plucking the hairs, taking the cells and implanting them back in..
This new one involves a mini strip procedure the size of roughly a dime. They want to then take those hairs, and try to multiply the cells, inject them.. in the hopes more hairs sprout.
I passed on that

Either way, they are working on the problem. Doing something to make the solution vs doing nothing, makes a whole lot of difference in an overall perspective. 10-20-30 years ago no one even tried to do anything about solving that problem.
you guys forget guys forget that our current technology was not around 20+ years ago...
specifically computer power, the internet which allows information to be distributed and received much quickly and easily, not to mention all of the cellular technology we are dabbling in now.
It's not that no one wanted to attempt this in the 80's it's that the technology to try and combat it was not around...
btw are there any photos which show this significant growth?
until we see for ourselves, I personally consider this news just as bs as all the other claims out there

I strongly believe there will be an ultimate solution to balding by stem cells, cloning etc. but the question is when????
Medical science has found ultimate solutions for many serious disease..
I just cant understand how hard it could be to cure baldness ??
The problem isnt growing hair... the problem is growing hair that matches our normal hairs appearance and can survive the growth cycle. other parts of our body dont constantly grow and die off...

fantastic thread!
I have to wash my hair 2x a day because of all the damn oil!
The oil is also one of the reasons my hair looks so bad.
After I get out of the shower and dry my hair, it's relatively full and manageable. Once the oil kicks in, roughly within the hour, it looks thin and horrible.
Any tips on keeping the oil at bay would be greatly appreciated

I appreciate you taking the time to put this together.
It however does not seem like much progress has been made. Were any new procedures or topicals or anything discussed that are looking good in the near future?
Dr cooley dipping plucked hairs into acell seems very exciting however I would love to see some before and after photos and the hairs surviving cycles
Thanks again

my routine consists of a base of dermmatch lightly all over the scalp, blend it in with my finger tips all over. Dry it with a hair dryer on the cool setting. and then add a lil toppik accordingly.
I then lock it in with hair spray.
As far as touching goes.. It is a challenge I won't lie. However some women chalk it up to, he has gel in his hair so whatever..

I am really glad you brought htis up.
I have the exact same thing. My safe zone is completely full, and everything around it has become thinner.
if I buzz down to a 2 or 3 , it blends in relatively well, however anything beyond that is just ridiculous.

There is a slight contrast, however considering we are all trained to pinpoint this kind of stuff it's still good.
The average person would not even give this a second thought

I can't believe there is over 5400 grafts there! They must have transplanted way on back into the native hairs also.
Did they really throw 5400 in there?
it's not bad at all however he basically blew his load on this procedure...
at best he might have another 3k or so in his donor area, and perhaps another 2 k from beard...
depending on how aggressive his hairloss become it might look weird down the line.
However if he feels comfortable now then job well done

I occasionally read HLH even though Farrel is a complete hypocrite.

maneandchic: Miconazole Nitrate: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Miconazole Nitrate: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Miconazole Nitrate is the main ingredient found in Neosporin AF and Monistat. Miconazole Nitrate is an antifugal medication, but many people claim that it grows hair and grows it FAST! I'm not really into growth aids, but I thought I'd write about it for the blog. Be careful though the Neosporin AF and some of the Monistat brands contain Mineral Oil (all except Monistat 3 or 7). If you're going to try it many people suggest using 2% Miconazole Nitrate (check the main ingredient) and make sure you're buying Neosporin AF as it is different from regular NEOSPORIN (it's in blue packaging, used to treat athlete's foot). There's also Feet Accompli, it claims to be the Ultimate Antifungal Pedicure Cream. It contains the 2% Miconazole Nitrate but also has Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, and Vitamin E. It's also $34 a tube. I did some research is basically my run down of Miconazole Nitrate.
THE GOOD (According to people that use it)
- Grows hair long
- Grows hair quick
- Can be mixed with oils
- Can be applied daily for optimal results
- Reduces Shedding
THE BAD
- No scientific evidence to support the safety of using on scalp
- Kind of expensive
- Embarassing to buy
- Cannot be used by anyone pregnant/expecting
THE UGLY
- Some have claimed it caused them untolerable headaches (most GENERIC BRANDS except Family Dollar brand)
- Others claim it's more of a scalp movement than a headache and it's not that bad
- Grows hair so fast that it's scary with some users experiencing as much as 1" of growth per month
- USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I am going to read further on potential sides. If its still found to be relatively safe I am going to give it a go on a small portion of my scalp.
If it does seem to grow my hair out faster. I am going to consider using it after the 4 week mark of my next HT
- Grows hair long

Actor James Nesbitt has given a testimonial about his experience with his own Hair Transplant.
This is a concise but informative video, and his new hair looks great and suits him.
He got it done by Dr Maurice Collins in Blackrock, Dublin, Ireland.
You can view his video testimonial on their website, its in the form of a promotional video so I cant post it here.
I am very excited about this as I have had a HT done here too and am awaiting the growth phase.
My HT was undetectable less than 24 hours after surgery and the whole experience far exceeded my expectations.
I had no scabs/crusts/pinkness pain or any noticeable signs of having had anything done the following day apart from some sutures in the donor area which are undetectable under my hair.
I would like to echo James Nesbit's advice and tell anyone thinking about this to speak to a qualified surgeon or doctor for advice.
HT undetectable less than 24 hours after?
What are you talking about? Who did your surgery?
Are you sure they performed it?
The scabs and crust come after a few days...
even a scrape on your arm is detectable...

What a pleasant surprise reading this thread.
I have been kicking this idea around for awhile now. I am basically waiting to have my last strip procedure done come January.
Then depending on how it works out, try to soften the scar as much as possible and potentially have the tat done.
My scar is not horrible, however what is bad is the shock loss. The hairs that were taken have a large thin portion, which looks like a giant scar.
If I grow my hair to looks like a giant strip scar from the thin patch, if I cut it to short you can see the scar...
Ideally I am hoping Dr Feller can help minimize the thin looking area with my next strip procedure, and then around the 1 year mark if all is well. get the tattooing procedure done.
btw, how natural does it look with regard to a number 2 buzz?
Will it fade over time looking ridiculous?
Thanks

Right,
however I had found other links which a few people had claimed that when used topically it helped to stabilize their hairloss.
Other links found certain side effects which is why I am wondering if anyone here had tried it?

Anyone?

What are your thoughts on Polysorbate 80?
is it effective in prevention?
Any sides?
Thanks
