  1. I bought the Hairmax lasercomb before my HT. Stopped using it because I didn't think it was working for me. Since then I had 2 HT's - the last about a year ago. I'm happy with the results. My hair looks natural but but not thick - the transplants certainly helped prevent getting to the point of having only side and back hair with a shiny top. After I saw the Feb 2007 FDA Clearance as a medical device (2 weeks ago) I started using it again. I don't know if it is my imagination or if it seems that I can see more scalp. I see discussions about shedding after beginning laser comb treatments for natural hair. I haven't noticed any shedding (hairs in the sink, etc) but I'mbut still I'm concerned about damaging my transplanted hair. After treatment for 15-20 minutes x 3 times/wk (6 times now) my scalp feels hot - and maybe even a little burned. Specifically - 1) would one expect or suspect a different reaction from transplanted hairs to naturally positioned hairs? Could I be doing damage? FDA approval if anything means no harm done, but is this for general health or would harm include follicular damage? 2) I don't expect to have a higher haircount in the transplanted regions, but the studies talk about thicker hairs as well. The scalp types and the hairloss extents seems pretty specific in the claims. How would the specific claims relate to transplanted hairs? 3) I'm hoping to prevent/ minimize further loss around the perimeter of the HT. Comments? Should I have any concern (especially about the mild burning sensation)? Do the objectives make sense relative to demonstrated claims? Docs? Would especially appreciate hearing from you.

  3. We didn't go on the basis of a set or projected number of hairs. Probably a big reason I don't specifically remember the number. The agreement was based on a "full" session for a pre-agreed fixed price and the number of hairs was based on how many he could harvest from a strip taken. I didn't try to influence the size of the strip or number of hairs and asked him to use his best judgement. Glad I did. Neither I nor my wife can even find the donor scar and I am very happy with the results of my relocated hairs. In a way, I'm planning on doing the second session as much because I expected this process to be 2 sessions. The results of the first session do stand on their own and I'm quite happy with it.
  4. I'd like to densify the front and create a better transition to the large bald area on my crown. When I look at the front (and I'm sure that only I see it) it is thin and individual hairs are apparent. The transition to the crown is also somewhat abrupt. I'd like it to be a little more gradual and blended.
  5. Here's some photos, latest 12/22/05 from a HT done on 6/7/05 by Dr. Charles in FLA. It was something like 2,000 FU's, don't remember exactly. Making my next appt for April 2006, although I really debated if I even wanted/needed a 2nd!
  6. What about Lexington Lasermax Comb? Anyone have positive/ negative results using this post op? One thing it is supposed to do is increase scalp bloodflow - sounds like it would be good for the new transplants...
  7. After months of debate and research, I finally took the plunge and got my first ht. I selected Dr. Glen Charles based on this site and family references. I flew into Florida from New England on the monday, had the ht on tuesday and flew home on the wednesday. The experience was quite easy and painless! I've had extraordinarly little bleeding. Dr. Charles and his staff were great. So far, I think he called me 3 times to follow up, definitely a sign that Dr. Charles cares about his patients, their experiences and results. Its been three days now and it looks like I have a "buzz cut" (the new shorter hairs) underneath my scarce frontal hair. I have thousands of tiny scabs that can be seen if you look for them with my thin natural hair combed over them. So far so good. The count was around 1800 transplants, with my large shiny crown untouched (for now!). I'll try to post my experiences as time passes.
