  1. Hi all, This is my case, I'm 30 years old and I have started noticing that my hair started getting thinner around a month ago and itching like crazy. I have also noticed some flaky white stuff, like dandruff, although it doesn't fall off. I went yesterday to the dermatologist, he checked my hair for like 2 seconds, and he prescribed me propecia and minoxidin 5%, he also told me that I only have to take the meds for 3-4 months (for what I've researched this is not the case) On the other hand, I have been dieting for the last 6 months, eating around 1600-1800 calories a day with creatine and protein supplements. I also have been lifting weights and running 5-6 days/week. I have lost around 20 pounds. I have been taking full body pictures since I started my exercise routine so I can clearly see that the thinning started this last month. I have attached pictures of last month and today. My issue is that I don't feel very happy of being attached to these meds for next few years of my life and I'm wondering if the thinning might the result of the calorie deficit or the white flaky stuff and hence adjusting the macronutrient ratios, increasing the calorie intake with specific vitamins, shampoos or another alternative treatment can strengthen the hair and avoid propecia and minoxidin. Any advice will be much appreciated Ps: Since my experience with the doctor wasn't that pleasant, I have another appointment with a different specialist next week. Ps2: As you might have noticed, English is not my first language so if anything is not clear, please let me know.
