  1. Hi, Can anyone tell me what an average donor density is? 80,90?
  2. Hi Tony, Yes & yes. I'm hoping the meds will prevent NW7, but still want to plan for the worst. The Dr thinks I'll be ok, but still I wanted to get some patients opinions. Best of luck with your growth. chops
  3. I think I may have 6000 grafts in my donor available for extraction, however I also think I may end up as a NW7 (currently NW4/5). Should I go with a HT now or am I shooting myself in the foot for the future? In other words can a NW4a who has 3000 FUs now in the frontal half still achieve an acceptable natural appearance if he then progresses to NW7? My hair ccharacteristics are good, in that I have thick hair.
  4. I'd be interested to hear what % of patients you think are able to buzz the back and sides at various lengths after a strip, without the scar showing, assuming you went to a top Dr such as Shapiro or Hasson. Based on my research I'm guesstimating no.1. 0.01% lol no.2. 10% no.3. 30% no.4. 45% scissor cut required, can't buzz 14.99%

  6. thanks. So what density would you typically expect in the frontal 1/3 to give a good illusion of density and not thin? 50 FU/cm?
  7. thanks for a great thorough answer Bill I'm a little confused though. Most would consider a NW6 approaching 7 to have approx 200cm2 of area to cover on average. This would mean an average donor yielding 7000 FUs would be able to give hairline density over the complete area (200*35), whereas many would argue its extremely difficult for an average NW7 to get full coverage at anywhere near hairline density
  8. What would you say the typical graft density is that top docs such as Shapiro or H/W plant in the frontal 1/3 is? Would an average of 45 grafts/sq cm be high enough for complete naturalness, assuming you have medium to thich hair?

  10. This was writen when the forum reviewed this clinic back in 06. "To assure minimal disruption to existing hairs in the recipient area, Dr. Shapiro has begun using a sophisticated 10 power computer imaging device while making the graft incisions. To date he is the only hair restoration surgeon in North America using this sophisticated imaging system. While this devise is expensive, Dr. Shapiro has chosen to spare no expense to assure optimal quality and minimal transaction of existing follicles." Any further info or developments on this?
  11. Hi PGP, That may have been slightly unfair to add that comment. I just seemed to read a few more scar issue posts with SPG patients than Hasson, but of course that may have just been due to their physiology.
  12. Hello again guys. Well after about 10 hours of further internet research it does seem that most would indeed class these 2 docs as top 5 world's best. There do seem to be a few general themes that I have noticed that may or may not be true. Dr Hasson may be better for mega sessions if you are looking at 4000+ Dr Shapiro may have a slight edge with artistry in the hairline Dr Hasson may do slightly better scar closures with less risk of scar widening. D Shapiro is more conservative and alos perhaps gets more coverage with the same number of grafts. Do you think the above points are true in your opinion?
  13. Hello Everyone, I just can't decide between these 2 Drs! Maybe others could help me decide by giving your opinions on these questions. Who is most natural especially hairline, who does best scar closure, who has most consistent results, who is best at camoflauging poor old work? Thanks
