Hi, I have been on minox/proscar for 2 months have have a decent amount of small hairs growing on my hairline. Im still experiencing alot of hair loss some of those being small hairs. Minox is irritating my scalp - could this be causing my hairloss?

Hi guys, Im a diffuse thinner and have been on Minox and Proscar for exactly 2 months. I am still thinning badly however have a decent amount of small hairs growing along my hairline. I hope the same number are growing all over however obviously harder to see. Im assuming the hair im loosing now is due to the minox shed? Since using Minox i have experienced irritation, when I touch my scalp it feels like prickles located at the hair folicle. Is this bad?!? or is the feeling related to the 'dead' folicles springing to life. Has anyone else experienced this? Confused, Tim

Hi, For awhile I have had a decent amount of hair falling off my head . I started Proscar and minox just under 3 months ago and I have just recently noticed alot more hair falling out. Not only does this hair come from my head however noticed that my chest and even nose hair is falling out too. The funny thing is I have small hairs coming through on my hair line at the same time. I have no idea whats going on at the moment but I think im shedding with new hairs coming through. It is very confusing i know but hang in there! Tim.

Thanks for the advice. On another note I still have alot of hair "raining" from my head at the moment. basically whenever i touch my hair i find some on my hand. The thing is, I still have a high number of hair falling out however I do have a number of small hairs growing on my hair line. Im guessing Proscar and/or minox are working due to the small hairs however experiencing shedding at the same time? Is this possible?!?!!??!

Hi guys, I have been experiencing alot of hair loss and recently (1.5months ago) began hair treatment comprising of Proscar and Minoxidil. I have been told that all the hair im loosing or lost will regrow the thing is how can I tell if the hair thats still falling from my head has come from a dead follicle? Will a hair produced from a near dead follicle be thinner and lighter than a healthy one? I 'think' the hair falling out now is getting thinner than before i started. I hope this is a good sign and not my imagination. Tim.

Hi guys, I currently use 5% Minoxidil either 2mil in the morning or 2ml at night. Is it best to apply it at 1mil morning and 1mil night or doesnt matter as long as I recieve a 2mil total doseage per day? Tim.

thanks for the reply's guys. I was just getting a little worried about the amount of hair loss since I started on Proscar/Minox. I also understand some ppl experience shedding when beginning both drugs and think the hair im loosing is thinner than before. I've always had a receded hairline however by the time i noticed the loss in those areas the top of my head is now thinning allot. I was told I will regain what I have lost however im quite optimistic. My main concern is that I dont want to loose most of my hair on top before proscar has time to kick in.

For the first month I was using special shampoo's/ conditioner etc. For the second month I began on Proscar and Minoxidil however still experiencing ALOT of hair loss. I was wondering how long Proscar will take to 'kick in'. Im worried my hair will thin to much or fall out before proscar can begin to work. Tim.
